😱 When Michelle Kwok first asked me to share my founder origin story, I panicked. I didn't feel like I knew anything about being a founder. My business had just passed the one year mark and I definitely didn't feel like I knew what I was doing half the time. So it’s been one month since I jumped into full-time entrepreneurship. For those newer to our story, I resigned from an International Marketing Director role at American Express to follow my dream of scaling Dear Coco after receiving investment. 4 weeks in and I can say it’s been an UNBELIEVABLE experience so far. I’m loving my new life and the business Sam & I are carefully and intentionally building. Here’s some reflections from my first month as full-time Founder of Dear Coco… • Our growth strategy is differentiated and exciting. Our external partners and focus groups are buzzing with what we’re doing. • All momentum is our own. If Sam & I don’t generate it, nothing happens and we won’t win. • Self-regulation and discipline is the oil that greases the machine. I’ve never been short of either. I work professionally and I’m early for everything, regardless if anyone’s watching. • Assembling a world-class team of partners is key. They’re an extension of our team so we want the best…and we got them too! • You don’t need to lead a team to demonstrate leadership. It applies to our partners as well as myself. I lead myself towards high performance and there’s an urgency to how I work. • There’s a lot I don’t know. Building a scaled business from scratch is a unique thing. But I have transferable skills from my 16-year corporate career and the Dear Coco Chiswick truck. • I’m getting a free business degree working with Sam Chandler. He’s one of the world’s great start-up founders and business builders. We’re a high-performing team and I always want to be the learner in the room. • And finally…I don’t miss Slack!! It's not just about the work; it's about spending time together and living experiences to straighten our bond. Here are the 5 key practices we're implementing to enhance our co-founder relationship: 1️⃣ 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗯𝗻𝗯 Diving into the daily life - discovering each other's morning routines, favorite breakfasts, and personal habits.
