Thank to everyone that has booked to attend my first ‘Business Development Networking' event of 2024 next week. The event is now a sell-out as the final place was confirmed this morning. This monthly event has sold out every month for more than 12 months. Thank you to everyone that is attending and I look forward to seeing you next week. Free networking events are best if you’re on a small budget. Now, I know there are probably some great free networking events out there, but generally, freebie events are one-offs where you meet a group of people and then probably never see them again. If you just want to pop out of the office for a chat for a couple of hours, then great, but if you are focused on building a profitable and successful business, then it’s best to focus your attention elsewhere. There is also a known psychological principle that shows that when people pay for something, their level of commitment increases. This means that generally, attendees at events where they have paid for a ticket will be more committed and focused on building long-term relationships. What a fun day it was at today's SINergy Networking Australia event! There were plenty of connections, interactions & laughs, that made for a fun & entertaining day. And it's always great to see some new attendees. Congratulations to Quiche Fletcher who was our Showcase Business winner. #Networking at business events has been one of the crucial tools for any business success or growth. However Derek Coburn, provides a different perspective in his article 'Don’t Waste Your Time on Networking Events' on HBR Blog. Interestingly, looking back today almost at the end of FY 2023-2024, was it right decision for attending so many business events spending energy, time and resources? Agreeing with Derek Coburn on hosting your events, isn't it difficult to manage or host your own events? I'm feeling like we are ending like an event management company rather than a patent service firm. A food for thought as we move ahead for a better financial year ahead. Most of you in my network have seen me advocate a lot about the Business Buzz - Local Business Networking. I've been out of the loop of attending business networking meetings for some time, but on Tuesday morning, I had the pleasure of attending a virtual networking group with 4N that I was invited to by the lovely Judi Hampton 💜🦄💜 It was great to reconnect with familiar faces who I'd met from previous groups as well as meet new connections and gain different insights and views from professionals across various industries. It was a relaxed and enjoyable meeting. My favorite part is the breakout rooms, as they provide a way to get to know attendees on a one-to-one basis.
