Under the theme “It’s time for action”, this year’s World Hepatitis Day highlights the need for collaborative action to expand access to diagnosis and treatment in countries. Here's the key: prevention is possible! Vaccines and effective treatments exist, offering hope for all! ⏺ Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver that is caused by a variety of infectious viruses and noninfectious agents leading to a range of health problems, some of which can be fatal. ⏺ There are five main strains of the hepatitis virus. ⏺ Short-term (acute) hepatitis often has no noticeable symptoms, so you may not realise you have it. ⏺ Long-term (chronic) hepatitis also may not have any obvious symptoms until the liver stops working properly (liver failure) and may only be picked up during blood tests. #swmpartners #worldhepatitisday2024 #itstimeforaction #awareness #hepatitis
