Herbal Snapshot - Slippery elm (Ulmus rubra) is more than medicinal - it's also a food source! This inner bark of the slippery elm tree is demulcent and emollient, making it good for internal and external uses. It soothes an irritated gastrointestinal tract and is useful for ulcers. Slippery elm can be cooked like a porridge, providing a naturally sweet, nutritious meal for those convalescing or in fragile health. Because if it's mucilaginous content, it can go well in a cough syrup. DETOX YOUR LUNGS Mullein leaf is one of the best herbs you can take for lung issues. Consuming mullein leaf tea will remove toxins, tar, mucus, and phlegm. 🌿Psalm 1:3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. Mullein leaf opens up your airways and has been known to fight asthma. For centuries, mullein flowers and leaves were used on animals and people for a variety of issues, including: * cough * congestion * bronchitis * asthma * constipation * pain * inflammation * migraine * sleep * gout Mullein leaf is sold in various forms, such as: * tea * extract * oil * powder * capsule * elixir One study of over ninety herbs concluded that mullein is in the top three for nutrition value. Calcium and magnesium in abundance along with flavonoids, saponins, tannins, terpenoids, glycosides, carbohydrates, proteins, fats and oils. Mullein contains about 3 percent mucilage, a gelatinous substance that soothes irritated membranes in the body. Mullein’s saponins help the body remove excess mucus from the lungs and soothes the mucus membranes with its emollient properties. Clemson University confirmed the antibacterial properties of mullein. In 2002, these researchers reported that mullein extracts are effective against several species of disease-causing bacteria including Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Escherichia coli more commonly known as E. coli. You can forage it as it grows wild in many places. I found some end of last summer and dried it out. Herbal Snapshot - Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) is -surprisingly- a member of the honeysuckle family and native to Europe and Asia. Valerian is perhaps best known for its relaxing and sedative properties, although it is also helpful for over-anxious thinking. It is helpful with the pain of headaches and migraines. The parts used are the roots and rhizomes, although some supplements also use the stalks. Valerian should never be used with alcohol due to compounding the sedative properties. Many people choose to use this herb in capsule form due to its bitter flavor. #herbalsnapshot #herbalist #herbaleducation #healingherbs #herbalism #foodismedicine #healthyliving #valerian #valerianaofficinalis

Dive into the Deep End: Discover the Power of Japanese Kelp Japanese sea farmers have cultivated wakame (Undaria pinnatifida) since the 8th century. Commonly served as a salad or soup in Asia, it became a popular global health food in the mid to late 20th century. It's easy to see why: ⚪ Rich in essential minerals, it can support a range of bodily functions, from bone health to immunity. ⚪ It can promote a healthy digestive system by positively altering the gut microbiota. But this remarkable seaweed, also called Japanese Kelp, isn't just another nutritious marine food. It's a powerhouse of fucoxanthin, an organic pigment with extraordinary health benefits. 🌊 Fucoxanthin: A Marine Marvel While fucoxanthin is responsible for wakame's golden olive-green hue, it is not a mere colorant. More research is needed into this active ingredient, but recent studies show promising results: ⭐ Antioxidant Activity: As a potent free radical scavenger, it can protect cells from oxidative stress. ⭐ Cardiovascular Support: It may boost heart health by improving lipid profiles and reducing blood pressure. ⭐ Anti-inflammatory Effects: It has potential benefits for managing inflammation-related conditions. ⭐ Provitamin A Activity: As a carotenoid, it can support vision, immune function, and skin health. At Plants2Market, we're dedicated to bringing the ocean's benefits to your wellness products. Our undaria pinnatifida powder extract, with 10% fucoxanthin, is meticulously sourced for the highest purity and efficacy.
