🚨 NEW MODULE: Increasing Immunization Confidence 🩺 Designed to help healthcare professionals navigate one of the most critical and challenging conversations: discussing immunizations with parents. Created in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics, the module is all about enhancing those essential skills we can't afford to learn on the job. Healthcare staff and students will learn how to: 💡 Foster a culture that builds confidence in immunizations. 💬 Initiate conversations with a strong, presumptive recommendation. 🩵 Use empathy and motivational interviewing to address concerns. 🫂 Customize communication strategies to suit different individuals and situations. Talking to parents about vaccinating their children demands impeccable active listening and sometimes de-escalation skills. It’s a high-stakes conversation that needs practice in a realistic, high-pressure environment—something that's not typically covered in standardized patient simulations. Aim for nirsevimab administration in the first week of life for infants born shortly before or during the RSV season (typically October through March). Infants with prolonged birth hospitalizations due to prematurity or other causes should receive nirsevimab shortly before or promptly after discharge. Infants younger than 8 months born outside of the RSV season and older infants or toddlers at high risk who are recommended to receive nirsevimab in their second RSV season, should aim to receive nirsevimab shortly before the start of the RSV season (typically October). If the ideal timing is missed, age-eligible infants and children who have not yet received a dose may be immunized at any time during the RSV season. You’ll find this answer, as well as other RSV immunization Q&As, here: https://lnkd.in/ekdK_Wd3 #ImmunizeOrg #savelivesimmunize #vaccinessavelives #vaccinate #pediatrics #RSV

Survey finds that increased awareness of the dangers of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in infants was the strongest predictor of likely vaccination during pregnancy. The study was published in the journal Pediatrics. According to lead author Jennifer Kusma Saper, MD, MS, the study findings show that RSV-vaccine uptake may be increased when parents are well informed about the serious risks posed by an #RSV infection and that RSV-related hospitalizations in #infants can be prevented with the #vaccine taken during #pregnancy. https://lnkd.in/gsHV79ZR Ann & Robert H. Nosebleeds, or epistaxis, are common in pediatrics and can be caused by various factors such as dry air, nose picking, or allergies. In children, nosebleeds are often mild and stop on their own. However, frequent or severe nosebleeds may indicate an underlying issue like a nasal injury, infection, or bleeding disorder. It's important for pediatricians to evaluate these cases thoroughly. Teaching children proper nose care, like keeping the nasal passages moist and avoiding picking, can help prevent nosebleeds. If nosebleeds persist or are severe, seek medical attention promptly. #NoseBleeds #Pediatrics #ChildrensHealth #NoseCare #Epistaxis #BleedingDisorders #HealthTips #Parenting #PediatricCare #NasalHealth #PreventiveCare #HealthyKids #NosePicking #Allergies #MedicalAdvice
