Feeling extra humbled this #internationalwomensday to learn from the intelligent, innovative, and inspiring women raising the bar for transportation policy/programs. We need gender-inclusive planning and data to tackle the #1 killer of young people: road crashes. Some food for thought: + Only 17% of transport sector jobs are held by women. + 2/3 of public transport users in the EU are women. + Women are much more likely to walk, bicycle, and take public transport; in other words, women's travel patterns are key to meeting climate commitments by decarbonizing transport. +  If all drivers behaved like women, road mortality rates in the EU would decrease by 20%. + The first female crash test dummy launched in 2023. Cars are designed for men, and women are 47% more likely to be seriously injured in a crash. + An analysis across 22 countries found that between 80-90% of women have been harassed in public, leading to limited mobility and distrust in transport systems. + An Australian study found that 65% of Transgender, Nonbinary, and Gender-Diverse individuals reported harassment on public transport.
