Throwing it back to the #Paris2024 Summer Olympics, where we gathered 25 forward-thinking leaders to tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing supply chains today! 🌍🏅 We were just as thrilled to have inspiring leaders such as Kris Timmermans from Accenture join us, reinforcing our strong and strategic partnership that has grown so much! And between our in-depth discussions, we took the opportunity to witness some awe-inspiring athletic performances, from record-breaking moments at Stade de France to the intense tennis finals. The energy and excellence on display were nothing short of inspiring. The Olympics have a unique way of uniting the world, reminding us that no matter our differences, we all share common desires - to be loved, to live in peace, and to respect one another. This spirit of unity and collaboration is just as essential in business as it is in life. Looking back, the weekend was a perfect blend of strategy, networking, and the Olympic spirit, a true testament to the power of collaboration in shaping the future of supply chains. Watching closing ceremonies from Slovenia house! I was all decked out in orange for the Dutch House event..only to show up after dinner and it was...closed! Oops, probably should have checked when it was closing on the last day even with Sunday tickets! Either way, closing ceremonies was a great recap. Great spectacles, and also great message. So much was summed up by IOC President Thomas Bach: "Thank you for making us believe in a better world for everyone. We know that the Olympic Games cannot create peace. But the Olympic Games can create a culture of peace that inspires the world. This is why I call on everyone who shares this Olympic spirit: let us live this culture of peace every single day." That's exactly what I was thinking - THIS is how we can come together. Not just celebrating the triumphs and victories but coming out to support the entire ecosystem that makes those victories happen - everyone plays a part, and we can choose different - to support, to engage, to promote, and to show up fully at our best on a daily basis, in our back-to-normal life. Thank you Paris, you did exactly that. ❤️ I come out of this week inspired, tired, hopeful, and excited for how I, and anyone else who chooses, can show up and do our part in supporting our planet that is sorely needs all of us to show up resourced and purposeful so we can co-create what is so needed in an era of unrest. YES...that is my vision for how the Olympics is the platform that can engage people in a way that can bring people together more than anything else to remember what humanity is capable of. We can all PAUSE, and intentionally shift our behavior so that we are more aligned so in whatever way, your world (and the world as a whole as a result) is more sustainable, resourced, peaceful, and supportive. “Teamwork makes the dream work”. Maybe…but how about: The RIGHT team makes the SHARED dream work. Not quite as catchy but definitely 10 x more accurate. It's the countdown to #Paris2024, where hundreds of teams will be put to the test. But ultimately, it won't be the team with only the smartest or most skilled people that shines brightest. It will likely be the team where - on and off the field - skills are complementary, differences embraced, egos are kept in check, and people are played to their strengths. They will build, not break, each other. It will be the team with the leader who guides but also knows how to listen. The teams that succeed will have clearly defined their goal and articulated it repeatedly over the years, months, and weeks leading up to the moment. Eventually, it will be a shared dream and they will unite to achieve it. Each team member will understand their specific role in achieving the goal and (importantly) be given room to play their part. It won’t have been an easy road, the team will have experienced setbacks, BUT they will have been able to review, reset, and pivot. This is the team that will make magic ✨ As we countdown to the Olympics - ready, excited, and ever grateful - remember that success is never achieved alone. Yours or anyone else’s.
