So, there are some things that the 🇬🇧 does rather well: (1) understatement; (2) complaining about the weather; (3) humour; (4) innovation; and (5) upgrading its Main Battle Tank ("MBT"). The MoD has just unveiled the latest Challenger 3 MBT prototypes which will start entering service in significant numbers in 2027. The Challenger 3 has a modular design allowing various components to be replaced/upgraded ... and includes a laser warning system which automatically detects threats and automatically slews the gun to point at the source of the threat, making it quicker for the crew to counter-fire. It also ditches the UK's previous preference for a rifled gun and goes instead for a smooth bore design allowing interoperability with our NATO allies, especially Germany, in terms of both ammunition sharing and ammunition technology development. It also includes so called "UK-Sovereign" armour i.e. highly innovative advanced armour developed by the UK.
