How often should I meditate, and for how long? When we talk about how much time we should spend meditating, it's really helpful to look at what scientists have found. There's a study that tells us a lot about this topic. Longer Meditations are Awesome: The study says that if you can meditate for about an hour, it's really good for your brain. It can help you remember things better, focus more, and not feel so stressed or worried. It's shown to reduce cardiovascular risk markers as well. https://lnkd.in/eP_YcXxk Shorter Meditations are OK Too: Now, sitting still and meditating for an hour might sound like a lot, especially when you have work, kids, etc... It's okay to do shorter meditations throughout the day. It's better to sit with your mind for 10 minutes than nothing at all. So don't really ask, " How long should I meditate?" Ask yourself, "Can I become consistent in my meditation practice?" Try this: If you think you don't have time to meditate for 5 minutes, let alone an hour, ask yourself this and be honest... Did I watch Netflix last night? Did I scroll on social media, this week? You are actually doing that right now. Did I have at least 1 hour where I wasn't busy? My estimation is that you answered YES to at least one of these questions. If you did answer YES to any of these, then it's not a time issue but a procrastination issue. Try reading this article and you will learn how to overcome this in a rather simple way. https://lnkd.in/eCwWPEkB The big takeaway is that making meditation a regular part of your day is super important. It doesn't always have to be a long time; what really matters is that you keep doing it. - Consistency is key. You will be able to handle stress better and you might find that functioning in society becomes a little easier. It's all about finding what works best for you and sticking with it. https://lnkd.in/eaEgGkxf
