Summer is coming, and while not impossible, it definitely makes networking more difficult for a while. So, what can you get done before you - and the people you need to network with - start heading off to vacation? Here's a quick checklist: - Get another networking event on your calendar... Just like you, your chamber will be wanting to get as much done before summer as they can. Take advantage. - Secure your slot in your chamber's golf tournament... In most regions, golf tournaments are happening now or coming up quickly. We love chamber golf tournaments, because you get access to business leaders who don't necessarily show up at mixers and other networking events throughout the year. - Plan out your goals for your memberships for the fall. It comes up on us quickly, and communicating what you're hoping to accomplish to your chamber team now, will help keep you top-of-mind for them when the kids are back in school. This is about 10 minutes worth of work that will prepare you to take advantage of opportunities when they arise in the months to come. Alright, darlings, gather 'round! I’ve got some networking wisdom to drop, so listen up if you want to make your new connections stick like glue! 1. Cut the crap and get real!  None of that small talk nonsense.  When I network, I want to hear your thoughts, your ideas, your raw opinions. I’m here for a proper conversation, not just an exchange of pleasantries. So speak your mind, even if we don't see eye to eye. I respect honesty over sugar-coated fluff any day! 2. Know your worth, but don’t get me wrong, there’s no need to flaunt it like a peacock on parade.     Confidence is key, but arrogance? That's just a turn-off. Show off your strengths, but there’s so much value in being humble enough to learn from others.  Networking isn’t about one-upping, it's about building bridges that last. 3. Secure your connections like Fort Knox! Trust is precious, and once it's broken, it's hard to mend. So keep your promises, guard confidences like a vault, and always follow through. Your reputation is your greatest asset in this game, so don't let it get tarnished by loose lips, no follow-through and broken promises. Now go forth, fellow networkers, and conquer the world with your charm, your wit, by creating unbreakable bonds!
