🌸 Today, on the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, let's unite to eradicate this abhorrent practice. Female genital mutilation, recognized internationally as a violation of human rights, inflicts irreparable harm on girls and women, robbing them of their health, autonomy, and dignity. Girls subjected to FGM endure excruciating pain, risk severe complications, and face enduring repercussions on their sexual and reproductive health, as well as their mental well-being. Despite progress, over 200 million girls and women today have already undergone FGM. The UN estimates that nearly 4.4 million girls are at risk of this harmful practice in 2024, which equates to more than 12,000 cases every day. Mercy Hands Europe stands unwaveringly with women's rights, condemning FGM and advocating for a world where every girl and woman can thrive free from violence and discrimination. 🔊 Let's amplify the voices of survivors, challenge harmful norms, and invest in initiatives that empower women and girls. 🤝 Join us in saying no to FGM and ensuring a brighter, more equitable tomorrow. #endfgm #zerotolerance #humanrights #womenempowerment #genderequality #healthforall #educationforall

"A lot of times our stories on women are based on compassion that we try to seek from men and is built around gender-based violence which I don't want to associate myself with. Why not give hope, positivity, an inspiration to follow something and give them a story that could be their own? That's something I would really want to see happening more." Dr. Shabnum Sarfraz, Global Director for Gender and Health (WGH), talks about the need for more women-centered narratives and what we can do to inspire women. - This video is part of a documentary series titled “Normalize the Talk” - where we explore the challenges surrounding family planning and reproductive health in Pakistan and the role of Population Services International (PSI) Pakistan in addressing those challenges.

Today... is the annual International Day of Action for Women’s Health, which emphasises the importance of women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights. The mission is to mobilise global attention towards issues like women’s autonomy, discrimination, and violence. It advocates against the regression in women’s rights, highlighting the need for better education and awareness. Because, we know, education leads to better health. As a cancer survivor today resonates deeply with me, as it symbolizes the battles fought and the resilience shown in the face of adversity. It is a reminder of the importance of accessible healthcare for all women, especially those of us starting or still navigating the complexities of a cancer diagnosis and treatment, and other chronic health challenges. For me, today is also a testament to the strength of survivors, the support of loved ones, our caregivers, and our relentless advocacy for better healthcare policies, accessible and equitable healthcare services, lifesaving interventions, and resources. It is a day to celebrate my victories, honor my journey, and reaffirm my commitment to ensuring that I have a right to an all-inclusive, all-embracing, dignified healthcare. "When women take care of their health, they become their own best friend." ~Maya Angelou We will keep raising our voices for all of the above, after all, who better understands our bodies than we? #cancerconvoswithgraceb #healthliteracy #InternationalDayofActionforWomensHealth #womenshealthcare #womenshealth #globalhealth #healtheducation #canceradvocate ##lifesciences ##mentalhealthandwellbeing #healthandwellnessadvocate
