Software developer employment peaked in October 2019 and has declined every year since. Fewer Americans are now employed as software developers than in January 2018, and while they still have salaries more than double the typical US worker, their median pay growth of 23.8% since then has lagged the 30.3% growth for all workers. While the average interest rate for a super prime rated borrower (780+ credit score) was just 7.7%, average rates for near prime borrowers (600-660 score) was 14.1% while subprime borrowers (500-600) faced an average rate of 18.9%. I've worked with hundreds of millionaires in my career: Here are the top observations I've noticed with those I worked with: → High Income Building a decent income is certainly possible, but it's a lot easier when you have more. Most millionaires make well above $300,000+ and have enough to set aside. → Ownership The vast majority I encounter are business owners. Owning a business is high risk but also high reward. People who fall into this category have their risk paid off. In addition, others who didn't own a business had some ownership in their company's equity. This is not as common as business owners, but it's a factor to consider. → Derisking Concentration With the risk they have already taken, they are looking to lower the risk in their portfolio. But by risk, we mean concentration in individual investments like companies. Usually, they are seeking to build streams of income with assets over time whether it's with index funds or real estate. → Real Estate Whether for personal or investment reasons, property remains a massive component of the equation. A residence that turns your living costs into appreciating equity is a massive factor for many over time, in addition to income perks. → Aren't Living On the Edge On the surface, people think rich people just spend all of their money on flash. This has not been my experience. That being said, they aren't living on the edge either. They spend on nice things that they value, but they are conscious of their spending, too—just not like Ramsey. They manage to stick to a comfortable lifestyle but prioritize paying themselves first. → Obsessive With Time Much of their success is dedicated to their drive to manage and invest their time. Whether it's business or personal related, they value their calendar tremendously. They make the most of the time given to them. These are the experiences I have noticed. It will be different for everyone!

It has been a great week that has reinvigorated me! On Monday, I completed a major project I have been working on for the last 4 months. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I attended the LEAP TD: Construction conference in Nashville where I made some great connections with other T&D professionals and learned a lot from the presentations and discussions! On Thursday, I knocked a presentation out of the park to senior leadership on my implementation plan on a new training initiative. This was followed by my performance review where a lot of great conversation was had and I received a raise! My transition from the Navy to civilian life has been difficult at times. There have been days this year that I felt like I was just falling flat on my face. There have been times where I was ready to give up. I questioned many things about myself that I have never questioned before. I’ve had multiple people over the last 5 months tell me to give myself some grace when I told them how I was struggling and didn’t feel like I was in the right place. I’ve had arguments with my wife because I couldn’t see that she was just trying to support me the best way she knew how. To say it simply, it’s been a roller coaster ride. If you are transitioning or about to, know that transition is hard, but don’t give up. We are taught in the military that you have to jump right in and have an impact, but now you will have to give yourself some grace. YOUR ENTIRE WORLD IS CHANGING. It’s not simply from one role to another. It is one culture to a whole new one, and that takes a while to adjust to. There will be days you will feel like you have failed, but just keep moving forward. Eventually, you will have a week like I just had, and you will realize, it’s all been worth it! I had an HR Director say: Normally, a person is not expected to be fully transitioned into a role for 12-24 months 🤯🤯🤯 You got this 💪 #transition #veteran #militaryretirement #militarytransition
