Elevate Collegiate Charter School in Houston, TX needed additional classrooms to house its enrollment. The obvious answer was to install portable classrooms on the large yard. The less obvious solution was to build a mezzanine in what was formerly attic space by building a structure within a structure. The 2nd challenge was providing accessibility to said mezzanine. The obvious solution was to install an elevator. The less obvious was to build a lift. Here are both creative solutions in place saving time, money, and without compromise. As we move into the holiday season, CSBA's Safe Schools Toolkit is available to help LEAs gain a better understanding of the components of a positive school climate, the impact it has on student well-being and academic outcomes, and how to support children and families. Section four of the toolkit — written by Derby Pattengill, whose expertise was honed across 17 years serving as Vice President for Health and Community Concerns for the California State PTA and as President of the 9th District PTA, covering 70,000 members in San Diego and Imperial counties — also offers LEA examples of best practices, outlines potential areas in which governance teams can make the most impact, provides relevant guidance, resources and more! Hello BOSTON! Jay Yung and I are at the National Charter School convention in Boston. PROUDUCT has been working with charter schools to lower costs on critical items like uniforms, desks, lights, chairs, hard wood flooring, etc. We like this business because A) Huge supporter of education. B) Big believer in competition C) Fan of cost cutting Charter schools are unique because they are privately built, publicly funded, independently managed. This means they have the ability to adjust content, voice, approach, and structure to meet the educational goal. What's your opinion on Charter Schools and school choice? #education #charterschools #uniforms

Texas Charter School Development (TCSD) is thrilled to be partnering with Elevate Collegiate Charter School in Houston, TX. We focus on finding innovative solutions to address the unique challenges faced by our charter school partners. Our collaboration with Elevate Collegiate exemplifies this commitment. Faced with the need for additional classrooms, we embarked on a thorough exploration of options alongside Elevate's dedicated team. Together, we identified the opportunity to repurpose previously unused attic space into a functional mezzanine, effectively optimizing available resources and space. Recognizing the importance of accessibility, we sought a solution that would ensure inclusivity for all students. The decision to implement a lift, rather than a traditional elevator, underscored our joint focus on efficiency and practicality. This project underscores our collective dedication to educational excellence and equitable access. It stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and innovative problem-solving in achieving shared goals. #TCSD #PartnershipSuccess #InnovativeSolutions #EducationalExcellence #InclusiveSpaces
