As the energy industry grows, so does the demand for floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessels. That increased demand, however, brings with it the need to accelerate development and optimization (and do it fast) to boost their performance. But how do we do that in the offshore drilling industry, an industry whose pace of advancement often resembles the turning of a large ship: long, gradual, and slow? Collaboration is the key. To unify disconnected FPSOs, we’ll need widespread, comprehensive collaboration combined with a healthy dose of digitization and automation. The sooner we collaborate, the sooner we can turn the ship—and set off in a new direction.
