Finding the right person for a role is a challenge. What makes it even more challenging is all the people who apply multiple times and do not possess the skills and experience. These people all fail to submit the requested cover letter which further shows a lack of engagement.

Have you ever wondered what is the point behind filling an entire job application on LinkedIn, where an applicant is required to fill, attaching a CV, a cover letter (even if the job was in a field of the highest employee turnover), and be compelled out of “fear of not being selected” to fill a “What else do you want us to know about you” field. And after all this, hoping to be even considered by an international company that also has an equal oppourtunity for all written in the job description, the applicant receives an automated rejection letter about 90 minutes later! — I still wonder about this, with how fast paced the world is, how accessible the world is rapidly becoming, and how most of these companies consider their hierarchy “flat”! #recruiting

Did you know that nearly 70% of hiring managers don’t read cover letters? 🤔 As companies move toward more inclusive hiring practices, many are eliminating resumes and cover letters from their application process. While this shift can help reduce biases, it also introduces new challenges: 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: Without these traditional documents, getting a complete picture of a candidate’s background and experience can be harder. 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐮𝐭: Candidates may struggle to differentiate themselves in a more standardized process. 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐇𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬: Removing personal data can make hiring feel impersonal and less tailored to individual strengths. 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬: Important interpersonal attributes and behaviour can be harder to assess. 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞-𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: High-volume assessments may become more challenging without initial screening criteria. With resumes and cover letters on the decline, the focus has shifted to data-driven assessments that evaluate skills, behavioural tendencies, and cultural fit. Saville’s 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝟔.𝟓 is a powerful screening tool designed to measure these key factors in just 6.5 minutes. Curious about how this could enhance your hiring process? Contact us today to learn more 📞. What is actually happening behind the scenes of hiring process nowadays? Does it hurt to send a confirmation email to candidate? Hiring process should not be complicated and leave someone hanging for a month. Now I become more appreciative to companies or HR that sends automated bald reply after someone sends their job application rather than nothing at all. It helps us to know that : 1. Our application has been successfully sent and received 2. The email address is correct 3. The organization is trusted and there is less chance for getting scammed 4. Please fill in the blanks Verily, sending an application acknowledgement email won't hurt. Also, I want to know if people still read cover letters and motivation letters or not.

Happy St Georges Day! Catching up on emails/ applications as it has been so busy at Everpool Recruitment. I've even received a CV application application with a cover letter! When you are reading 100's of CVs on a daily basis, (I am not exaggerating) It is always a pleasant surprise to receive a cover letter, demonstrating the applicant has not just clicked a button to apply without knowing what they have applied for. I can't speak for every decision maker in recruitment, but I will always read a cover letter, whereas CV sifting has to be a swift task given the volume received. Quality over quantity is the best way. I'll definitely be calling the candidate who has taken the trouble to include a cover letter and doing my level best to help them.

As an HR Specialist (recruiting) here are some simple things that I love and make an applicant stand out. - A cover letter. A cover letter that is authentic and genuine. Simple statements about your passion and how you can add to the team. Not the cover letter that takes hours to write, using a thesaurus and AI assistance. -A thank you message after an interview. This shows your ability to build professional relationships. It is easy to see a recruiter as a stepping stone or as a hoop to jump through. The follow-up messages is a reminder that we are both human. -Rescheduling phone screens/interviews. I have so much respect for applicants willing to be vulnerable and let me know something came up and they need to reschedule. We are all human and life happens. I will gladly reschedule that for you! -Asking questions during the interview. What do you love most about ABLE Kids? What does opportunity for growth look like? Absolutely interview me just as much as I interview you. This shows interest in the company and your intentions. Recruiters what would you add to this list? ABLE Kids is hiring in NC, SC, and GA. Let's connect! #ABLEKids #Hiring #BCBA #RBT #Interview #ABA #HR #Worklifebalance

I've spent the afternoon supporting my young people applying for entry level jobs and it is stressful!! ⭐️ Entry level role in a cinema - upload CV, cover letter and then complete 60 timed questions (60 seconds per question) ⭐️ Retail Assistant in a supermarket- upload a CV, cover letter, answer 12 timed scenario based questions and 30 personality based questions Why are we making it so hard for young people to gain entry level jobs? If you want to stop the recruitment crisis and become truly inclusive and diverse please reassess the way that you recruit. #inclusion #employment #diversity

Whenever drafting a job description, it's important to remember that it's not just about what you want from a candidate but also what they will get in return. By addressing both, you create a culture that benefits everyone involved. A business aims to make a profit and a candidate aims to achieve their own personal and professional goals. Keep this in mind next time you're hiring! #interviewtips #jobdescription #culturefirst #bestemployer #thoughtfortoday #hiring

Why apply for a job and be uncontactable? I've seen this quite a bit recently. A great candidate applies for a role, their experience and qualifications line up perfectly. They even attach a personalized cover letter...wow But then no response to calls or emails. Even when tried after hours. If there was a significant period of time between the application and the outreach, then I'd understand this, however this happens on the same day or the day after the application. It just seems like an easy way to burn bridges and leave a poor impression. #jobsearch #recruiting #careeradvice #professionalism #communication

Also, what are the benefits to you as an employer to adding extra steps on the application process? (I.E platform signup, cover letter etc) Do you read cover letters? Do you want to just collect our data for recruitment quota/targets? Discuss below. Picture for visibility...
