Boxes are shipped with roughly 55% air, almost 64% in some categories like Home Goods. 📦 Let's talk about how to fix this pack. 1. Understanding dimensions. When you document the dimensions of your SKUs, understanding how they were measured is crucial. Was the shirt laid flat and then measured? Or was it folded? Probably the former in this case, based on the box size alone. 2. Squishability. (Yes, that's actually what we call it.) Adding packing rules for the 'squish' factor of an item will help determine how to pack certain soft goods. Paccurate's cartonization API accommodates these types of unique packing rules. 3. Right-sized packaging. Determining your carton suite based on your unique order history will ensure you have the right cartons and mailers on hand. Big or small, wide or slender: When cardboard cans stand on their heads and spin, Birgit’s team is involved. You might say it gets romantic, as the base and the can are “married” in the machine. If a spoon is included it goes in first, since it wouldn’t fit after filling. The use-by date is also printed in this step, so everything stays fresh and delicious for the consumer right to the end. Up to 60 cans pass through the machine each minute, and that means some jostling and shoving. Sometimes the team has to intervene when it gets to be too much.
