A couple of weeks ago I got to speak about Employee Ownership with my friend Joseph Blasi at his Annual Conference for the Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing. This is a clip talking about how Carta wants to make Equity as simple, easy, and cheap as Payroll. 🐿

The way that I kind of compare Carta and sort of what we do with software is a little bit like what payroll did in the 50s, healthcare did in the 50s. So the modern worker, which is all of you are working on the math, the science, the studies, the policy work around why equity compensation is a good thing, why employee ownership is a good thing. Our job is on the back end, which is how do you make it just easier right there? There's so many things in the world that are good and should be done, but are just kind of hard to do. Friction prevents people from doing it. Could you imagine when you went to go work for somebody and you wouldn't be on a payroll system? Like that's crazy. You'd have to queue up end of the week and wait for a paycheck that hopefully you would get right now it's just you get on a payroll system. 2030 years from now, hopefully people will say, like, you remember when nobody got equity comp because they said the paperwork was too hard? Like that was crazy, right? It's just be simple. You, you sign up for, to, for work and you get payroll, you get healthcare and you get equity. And that's our contribution to moving the world forward.
