NDWI stands for Normalized Difference Water Index. It is a remote sensing index used to identify and delineate water bodies within an area of interest. NDWI maps are generated by analyzing satellite or aerial imagery using specific spectral bands.

Aerial mapping is an application that we use to collect data when the situation calls for precise surveying of both aerial and above ground features. Why does it stands out? Speed, safety, accuracy. There have been 26 reviews into emergency management since 2019 - with no progress or change. I’m keen to hear the key findings of $10.8 millions-worth of urgent scientific research and data collection. I’m hoping to see monetary and political commitment to action - specifically the structural overhaul of emergency management thats needed. Aotearoa must address our increasingly unsustainable situation of inconsistent and fragmented emergency management, including under investment, to ever increasing risks and vulnerabilities. We’ve survived on comradary, goodwill and happenstance for too long.

Can we use citizen science photos with species labels to segment tree species in drone imagery? 🌳📸🚁 Absolutely! I am happy to share that our research on this approach has been published!
