What Did We Learn At EBACE 2024?
The business case for exhibiting at an expensive Swiss show and extra security measures to prevent eco-activists from invading the static display like they did in 2023 dominated conversations at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva last week.
Nevertheless, exhibitors and visitors used EBACE for what it was created for: showcasing products like Leonardo's AW09 and discussing how to solve business aviation's problems. Short-term issues ranged from airport access for business aircraft to ensuring enough pilots are in the training pipeline.
Meanwhile, sustainability was the overarching longer-term matter for business aviation.
In addition to conventional, albeit brand-new, business jets on the EBACE 2024 static display, futuristic vehicles and demonstrators could be seen on the Palexpo exhibit floor, such as in advanced air mobility and hydrogen-powered aircraft.

Are you looking to learn more about
- How 'Software Defined Everything' is going affect avionics?
- How higher levels of autonomy can be attained without compromising on the strongest safety requirements (typically DO-178C / ED-12C DAL A)?
- How Time Sensitive Networking can be effectively leveraged to reduce Size Weight and Power (SWaP) in future aircraft?
- How to build avionics software which is conformant with the Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA)?
- How to mitigate project risk, reduce cost and save time when designing software for future airborne systems?
- How all of the above can be achieved with Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) software?
Then join Andre or me at one of our presentations during Aerospace Tech Week, or visit us at booth #618!
I look forward to seeing you there!

Don't look for me at Messe downtown Berlin these days! The result of what can be achieved when an entire company like Messe Berlin moves with all of its logistics just west of BER airport can be seen on 150,000 square meters: With its broad and well-founded stage program, our 2024 edition of #ILA is unique. Evolving over five days and with content on four stages, everything revolves around current aerospace topics. The thematic focus will be on innovation and technology, sustainability, design, talent development & social responsibility, national and international cooperation, research & development, defense & security as well as start-ups and SMEs. High-profile speakers such as the Inspector of the German Air Force, LtGen.Ingo Gerhartz, the ESA Director General, Dr. Josef Aschbacher, and Joanna Drake, Deputy Director General for Research and Innovation at the European Commission, are expected to attend.
Over 600 exhibitors will be presenting their innovations until Sunday - from electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) and climate-friendly propulsion systems to air defence and satellite systems. In addition, many aircraft will be on display at the ILA - both on the ground and in the air. The F-35 stealth multi-role combat aircraft will be on show for the first time in the so-called "Flying Display" (which means, flying live), as will the Tornado, which has been given a special livery to mark its 50th anniversary. The Airbus A321 XLR passenger aircraft, the NATO Helicopter 90 and the A330MRTT tanker will also be making their rounds over the ILA grounds. The entire spectrum of aerospace can be seen in the "static display" - over 100 aircraft from drones such as the Loyal Wingman and electric aircraft such as the Elektra Trainer up to the world's largest passenger aircraft, the Emirates A380. A special highlight on the public days at the weekend is the A310 Air Zero G, which is used by the German space agency for parabolic flights.

UPDATE #AIRTEC 2024 - #Future in Focus
Oct 8-10, 2024 Trade Fair #Augsburg
"Innovations in #aerospace often go hand in hand with issues in #safety and #defense and were fostered by overlapping technological challenges between aerospace industry and defense industry.”
For Airtec, these are the reasons to expand the existing thematic canon to include ‘Defense & Security’ – as we have already reported before.
The strong focus on #dual_use approaches, which also extend to areas such as #automotive and #transportation, #industrial#automation, and novel #energy concepts, makes Airtec an attractive platform for exhibitors and visitors alike.
We feel honored that Andreas Hammer Head of Combat Air Systems Airbus Defence and Space (Manching) will be one of the already confirmed
opening speakers. We have also already reported our delight that the Bavarian State Minister Dr. Florian Herrmann, MdL, has taken over the patronage of Airtec 2024 and will personally open Airtec on October 8, 2024.
The exhibitors (as only they are allowed to appear as SELLERS in the B2B meetings) will likely meet buyers and high-ranking tech managers from the following companies at the B2B meetings: Rheinmetall, MBDA Deutschland GmbH, Boeing, Diehl Aerospace, Diehl Defence GmbH & Co. KG, Airbus Defence & Space (here also and especially ‘Defense’), Airbus Helicopters, DAHER Aerospace GmbH, Liebherr Aerospace GmbH, MT Aerospace AG, Raytheon, Rolls-Royce, Safran Electronics & Defense, Spherea GmbH, Thales, IAI, Elbit, Leonardo, TAI, MTU, Pratt & Whitney, General Atomics, and many more.
Take advantage of the unique opportunity to make cross-industry contacts at Airtec 2024, expand your network, and exchange ideas about the latest trends and developments. Whether you are active in the aerospace industry, the defense sector, or related fields – Airtec is a must for all who want to be at the forefront of technological #innovation.
