📈 “Strength analysis can be used to apply loads to tools, so if we have analysis, we can simulate in advance how the product will bend and how it will be bent, so we can make a jig and apply a machining load. Especially when the product is not a block but a thin die-cast or forged product, the thickness of the product changes rapidly, and the product bends when machining is applied to it. By analysing how the fixture accommodates these changes and incorporating the results into fixture design internally, we can achieve better results. We link the analysis results with fixture installation to streamline work processes and reduce time requirements. Thanks to this process, the company can create more quality products, while shortening their manufacturing times. And this is all thanks to Hexagon.” – Kenji Kimura, President, Kotobuki Seiko. 📃 Read the full case study about how Kotobuji Seiko are using Hexagon products in Japan here 👉 https://hxgn.biz/3RWVN02 #InnovationInEngineering #CMM #PortableArm #Machining

Looking to boost your shop’s unattended machining capabilities? Swiss-type lathes are a top choice. Equipped with a bar feeder and parts catcher, these machines can run unattended for hours, often producing complete parts. Adding a B-axis with live tooling allows for more intricate parts. However, efficiency can vary, especially with parts needing complex machining on both sides, common in the medical and aerospace industries. Read about Gosiger’s experience with the Nomura DS’s 20J3XBTC—a Swiss-type machine that has B-axes on both the main spindle and subspindle, as shared by Modern Machine Shop: https://lnkd.in/gwWE3jF6 #machining #usedmachines #manufacturing #machinery #machinist #machinerydealer #efficiency #leanmanufacturing #cncmachines

EFFORTLESS CHATTER ELIMINATION IN MACHINING FROM NAKAMURA-TOME When you come across chatter, how do you get rid of it? Chattering in machining is the unwanted harmonic vibration of a workpiece and a cutting tool caused by several reasons. Chatter ruins machining precision and reduces productivity. Even though your machine has high rigidity, it happens. Here are a few things that you can do to mitigate chatter: Fix work holding Shorten up your tool holder Shorten the stick out of your tool Change the programming Modify the cutting speed and feed rate Add fixturing and support for the part However, it is hard to find out the specific reason for the vibration. Even if you could eliminate chatter, another problem would occur. For example, when you change the cutting speed, it often affects your cycle time. Therefore, as machinists, chatter is our common enemy. We want to mitigate it as soon as possible and do not want to ruin our day. This is why Nakamura-Tome’s Chatter Canceller is a wonderful feature; it is a handy, effortless and a quick solution against chatter. Why Chatter Canceller? Precision machining is a vitally important technique in modern manufacturing. To maintain product quality, manufacturers need to accurately assess the level of wear in their cutting tools – but this is often difficult to quantify. A research team led by Dr George Bollas at the University of Connecticut, USA present an advanced new technique for monitoring tool wear. Their approach combines machine-learning algorithms with measurements of vibrations in cutting tools. #manufacturing #tooling #precision #cutting #monitoring https://lnkd.in/gschjAcV
