3-3.5 LPA for law graduates with 1-2 years of experience! This is the sad reality for lawyers who are delving towards corporate world! But when we delve deep into it, majority of the companies providing these kinds of packages are LPOs and majority of the work revolves around post-execution! 👉 And the sad part is that majority of the fresh law graduates don’t under the work around pre and post execution! Majority of the fresh law graduates who are attracted towards corporate side don’t know the difference between pre and post execution and in order to start from somewhere, tend to start in post-execution work thinking they will be able to land job as In-House counsel! But the work we do as In-House counsel is Contract Vetting and Negotiations (pre-execution work)! So don’t fall into this trap with the perspective of starting from somewhere! #inhousecounsel #inhouselegal #corporatelawyer #corporatecounsel #legaljobs #jobs #contracts #agreements

Internship Experience at Reliance Department, Delhi Office (Legal Department). During my internship at the Reliance Department's Delhi office, within the Legal Department, I gained invaluable practical experience in various facets of Corporate law and transactional procedures. My exposure spanned across multiple domains, providing me with a holistic understanding of the legal framework governing businesses. One of my key responsibilities involved assisting in drafting a scheme of amalgamation under Section 230-232 of the Companies Act, 2013. This involved meticulous research, analysis of relevant legal provisions, and synthesizing complex information into a coherent document. I also contributed to the drafting of a company petition under Section 58 of the Companies Act, 2013, dealing with issues related to share transfers and registration. This experience honed my drafting skills and deepened my understanding of procedural aspects involved in approaching the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). My internship also provided me with hands-on experience in conducting due diligence on companies and their directors. I utilized various online resources, such as the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) website, the NCLT website, SEBI defaulters list, CIBIL, SFIO, IBBI, and the Income Tax Department's list of tax defaulters. This comprehensive due diligence exercise helped me understand the importance of regulatory compliance and risk assessment in corporate transactions. Furthermore, I was involved in drafting various legal documents, including: Partnership Deed Amendments: This required a thorough understanding of the dynamics of partnership agreements and the legal implications of alterations. Electricity letters to the company: On behalf of commercial shop allottees, addressing issues related to electricity tariffs, this task familiarized me with regulatory aspects of the energy sector. Letters to the Registrar of Companies: Seeking interim reliefs and replying to legal notices related to lease agreement renewals, this experience exposed me to the intricacies of communication with regulatory bodies. Legal notices to companies: On behalf of a resolution professional claiming debt, this assignment provided insights into insolvency procedures and debt recovery mechanisms. Legal opinions: On diverse issues such as online ticket reselling, the applicability of Section 185 of the Companies Act regarding director salaries, and the execution of documents, these tasks challenged me to apply my legal knowledge to practical scenarios. Overall, my internship at the Reliance Department's Delhi office was a transformative experience. I gained practical exposure to a wide range of legal activities, developed my drafting and research skills, and acquired a deeper understanding of corporate law and regulatory compliance. Choosing the most appropriate specialized legal practice areas might be exhausting tasks of confusion, directionless for senior law student and fresh law graduates. Our advice below may help: 1. Doing Comprehensive Researches Obtaining sufficient information beforehand is essential for any decision. For any specialized legal practice areas coming to your mind, please do the proper comprehensive research on such areas. Comprehensive research does not necessarily restrict research on which company is the top-tier in such areas nor read articles praising successful deals alone. Comprehensive researches include any research to get a general understanding of the specialized legal practice areas e.g., business/operation of such areas, lawyers’ role or core competencies, or practice sharing from experts (both legal and other experts). 2. Summarizing and Identifying the Criteria Gathering and summarizing all information to understand a specialized legal practice area, and identifying the criteria needed to thrive in that area. Each specialized legal practice area requires a distinct set of criteria. A tax lawyer should not be the one who is reluctant to numbers and accounting or fails to understand business practices. Similar to investment funds and banking, aversion to finance will hinder career growth. 3. Comparing and Choosing the Most Appropriate Specialized legal practice areas that most suits skillsets are critical over areas of “high-profiled” title. Comparing your skill sets, and potential for growth with criteria needed for a specialized legal practice area and making the decision. Get yourself prepared and seek several career counseling advices from practiced lawyers! ________________________________________________________________ Application for Legal Internship at CBS is still open. Send your application to infor@cbslegal.vn prior to 15 November 2024 to explore the opportunities to be trained and grow with our business lawyers.

FWA Friday Update! We have decided to spotlight a specific trend in the legal market – namely the Specialisation issue. Something we are asked about a lot! Given how the market is developing, we consider this an area worth addressing as it has far-reaching implications for lawyers at all levels of qualification, in both private practice and in-house. We feel today it is not so much a question of whether to specialise, but rather when to specialise. Specialisation - Specialisation has grown due to various factors like politics, technology, and economics. This trend has also led to the rise of interim lawyers and in-house legal teams. It impacts firms' commercial strategies and individual lawyers' career goals. Early Specialisation – Clients seek candidates with potential. If you lack experience, thorough research into your desired specialisation area is crucial. You should articulate why you're interested and why a firm should consider you. Enthusiasm must be well-informed, and you should strategically showcase your transferable skills in your CV and during interviews. Without a proven track record, you must convincingly demonstrate your enthusiasm, commitment, and motivation. Firms view you as an investment, so you must communicate your capabilities and competencies. Handling your career - Don’t lose sight of your career plan. Assess if your current practice aligns with your skills and offers room for growth. Consider whether a mismatch between your skills and firm profile could hinder your advancement, such as a property lawyer in a corporate practice. Additionally, think about the possibility of becoming overqualified for a lateral move to a junior position for retraining. Seniority brings experience, but it may also carry assumptions about adaptability to new areas of law. Don't wait too long to address potential mismatches between your skills and firm profile, as specialisation trends continue. Find an environment conducive to your development and progression for long-term success. We are always happy to discuss your career plan at any time and always on a confidential basis. Timing is everything. Have a great weekend. Frasia x #specialising#careerplanning#fwalegalrecruitment
