Why do racecars take pitstops? In a sport where the whole point is to consistently move as quickly as possible, what's the point of stopping? The simple answer is, to go faster, more consistently. By losing momentum, they're gaining momentum. Now that I've confused you, allow me to explain. Racecars take pitstops to refill on gas, change worn-down tires, and make repairs. As a result, they get back to moving quickly and confidently. Just as it is in motorsports, taking intentional breaks is crucial in your professional life. It's easy to get sucked into your work and become fully engulfed in whatever world-changing project you're part of. While it should be fun, you need to give yourself breaks. But I'm not talking about giving yourself 15 minutes to mindlessly scroll TikTok. I'm talking about breaking with intention. Take time to actively destress, engage in healthy activities you love, and spend quality time with your friends and family. The idea that you need to remain "dialed-in" at all times needs to be scrapped. In reality, taking the time to actively not work will make you more productive and more "dialed-in" when it truly counts. What intentional breaks do you take to recharge? Always fix your divot. And one other. If everyone does that, we have a nice place to play. In the course of playing golf, we make divots. These are little messes. Some are good, some bad. In the course of work, we make little messes. Good and bad. Fixing your divot and one other means cleaning up your mess. And fixing one other ensures that other messes are cleaned up. "but it's not my mess," is the philosophy of a seven year old. Winners take responsibility. Ownership. They clean up. #golf #trucking #work
