🚨 New Episode 🚨 Brian Strauss, Director of Demand Gen at Omni Lab and Co-Founder of Demand Collective tells us about Circle a tool to improve your community management. 🤔 What problem was Brian trying solve? "Community management was, is the big challenge, right? And there's a lot of tools out there. And there's a lot of tools that do a narrow thing really well, right? And if you want to have a fully formed community that does a lot for its members, you need something that does multiple things once without having to integrate a bunch of different tools into a single platform, right?" 🤝 Why Circle? "It's really good at being sort of the all in one platform for community management and it allows us to serve our members in a number of key ways including facilitating our one on ones, facilitating distribution of IP and facilitating just like discussions, right?" 🔗 What could Circle do better? "I wish Circle was better with how you manage paywalls. It can be confusing how it sets up its invitation links versus its subscription links. Versus its paywalls, right? And unless you are taking the time to test all of these links and to test how they're set up, it can be challenging to understand the nuances of how they're set up. And when you're, you know, when you have someone on an interview and you are. Locking them in as a prospect and you're ready to bring them on as a customer. You want to be able to send them a link right away and you want to be confident that it works because that can, that can be the difference between sealing the membership or losing the deal."

In this episode, I’m joined by Cormac Russell a social explorer, author, and sought-after speaker. Cormac is the Founding Director of Nurture Development and a member of the ABCD Institute at DePaul University, Chicago. With over 25 years of experience working in 35 countries, Cormac’s impact is truly global. His latest books include The Connected Community and Rekindling Democracy. In this episode, we explore the transformative power of grassroots community building, diving into inspiring stories from Cormac's work and his book. Together, we unpack how to reignite active citizenship and make practical, meaningful changes in your neighbourhood. Cormac sheds light on the harm caused by top-down approaches that focus on symptoms rather than root causes, and how holistic, community-driven solutions can shift the narrative—whether it’s about health, safety, or aging well. We discuss the dangers of viewing communities through a lens of problems instead of strengths, and the immense potential in collective action to bring about lasting change. Throughout the conversation, Cormac emphasises the value of seeing people not as needy but as needed, and how fostering this shift can bring real benefits to both individuals and communities. It was such an insightful and enriching conversation, where despite having a set plan, we went off-script in the best possible way, exploring Cormac's deep knowledge and passion for community building. I hope you enjoy and take away as much wisdom from this conversation as I did.
