At HF Integration Pty Ltd, we're working with major mining companies aiming to decarbonise their operations. These organisations recognise the importance of addressing key human factors challenges to ensure success. Here are six common challenges we see from a human factors perspective: 1. Operators have limited ability to influence equipment design: Operators may find themselves working with prototype equipment whose design they have limited influence over. This prompts the need to develop work arounds and overcome conflicts between Work As Imagined by the OEM, and Work As Done by the operators. Some of the operation, inspection and maintenance tasks that need to be performed may not become clear until after the technology has been in use for some time. 2. Integrating new systems with legacy infrastructure: The integration of new systems with legacy infrastructure is a major challenge. Effective involvement of end users and consideration of their requirements is critical to smooth integration while maintaining operational continuity. 3. Assessing the impact of novel systems on existing working practices: The introduction of new technologies can disrupt existing working practices. Human Factors risk assessments are essential to identify and mitigate potential errors while optimising the benefits of the new technology. 4. Managing safety critical controls associated with decarb technology: New technology may require re-evaluating existing safety critical controls and developing new ones. The hazards and degraded conditions associated with novel technologies may also not be fully understood. Supporting the human role in managing the safety of these new technologies is crucial. 5. Staying ahead of changes to training and competency requirements: The introduction of decarbonising technologies means people will need to possess new skills, competencies and knowledge. Training and competency development should be proactive to ensure operators are well-prepared for the evolving landscape. 6. Managing the multi-phase rollout of decarb technology: Decarbonising is a major undertaking, executed in multiple phases and over many years. This means that a “current operations” baseline might look very different by the time the technology is eventually rolled out at scale. Clear definition of the future operating concept, supported by an understanding of the critical tasks that people will need to carry out, is key. This needs to consider the influence of other factors that may be completely separate to decarbonisation, such as increasing automation. We're committed to addressing these challenges by integrating human factors principles in major decarbonising projects. Stay tuned for updates on our exciting projects, and feel free to reach out if you're interested in collaborating or learning more about our work. https://lnkd.in/gNnY5BvF

𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫: Before going to give an answer to this question you need to understand one thing. To separate N components using distillation you require N-1 Distillation columns. Let's take 4 components of natural gas. 1). Methane 2). Ethane 3). Propane 4). Butane 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: The two components which you would like to separate. One component is a light component and another one is a heavy component these are based on boiling points. In the above example, you can take any of the components as key components. Let's take 1 & 2. 1(Methane) will be light component 2(Ethane) will be heavy component. And these two are now adjacent to each other there is no other component between them. You can call them 𝐀𝐝𝐣𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. Let's take 1(Methane) & 3(Propane) if you take these two as key components. In between the heavy and light components, you can see another component. Another component separates these two key components. This 1&3 can called 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. Please ask your doubts below. I can clear it if you don't understand it. #chemicalengineering #processdesign #sivajithota #aaharyatechnologies
