Physiological science services form an essential part of NHS service provision - supporting diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of our major diseases. It’s vital that quality is at the heart of any healthcare service. Physiological science services include taking measurements related to the function of our major organs - everything from using echocardiography to measure cardiac function to undertaking hearing assessments to measure the extent of hearing loss. Patients, clinicians, service providers and commissioners need assurance that these physiological measurements are accurate, reliable and consistently performed. That’s why the UKAS IQIPS accreditation is such an important process, giving assurance of quality in physiological service delivery.
