A few weeks ago I posted a series of articles about Giving Tuesday, the start of the year end fundraising season. Now that we are to the last week of the year this could be considered the "Super Bowl" for annual giving campaigns. Significantly more money and number of donations are given during the last few days of the year. If you have not done much for your annual campaign, you can still send an email or make a final appeal. However, much like the football teams at the bottom of the conference, don't expect to suddenly rise to the top of the donation list. You need to start planning for next year. Good luck to all nonprofit during the final week of the year with their annual campaigns. Also, good luck to the nonprofits that depend on other forms of funding such as grants, contracts, social enterprise etc. What I wish for all is some rest, time for reflection and the ability in 2024 to analyze where they are and set goals for where they want to be in making the biggest positive impact on the community. Today is Giving Tuesday! 🗓️🤩 Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a worldwide movement that encourages people to do good for others and for their communities. While it’s easy to think of “giving” as making a cash donation, the true spirit of Giving Tuesday is to inspire acts of generosity of every shape and size. How big is this global day of giving? In the U.S. alone, more than 35 million people participated in Giving Tuesday 2021 events, raising $2.7 billion—a 9% increase over 2020 and a whopping 37% increase over 2019. However, non-cash acts of generosity increased beyond 2020 figures as well, according to the network. Donations of goods like clothing and food were up 8%, and volunteering increased by 11%.
