Current and recent #GraduateStudents: Wondering what your Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program experience could entail if you apply by noon ET on Sept. 18 and get selected? Abby shared her experience with us from her time as a Fellow, which included working at two U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) agencies. "I began my time as a PMF at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services before going on my rotation at the Administration for Children and Families (ACF). While at ACF as a PMF, I learned that I really enjoyed working closely with Congress and wanted to get more in the weeds on how the Executive Branch operates. I finished my Fellowship on ACF's Budget team, which is where I still work today as a federal employee in the competitive service. "I went into my PMF rotation at ACF with a very limited knowledge about budget, but because of PMF and the training and learning opportunities that go along with it, I feel more confident in my knowledge and skills. I do not think I would have been able to make a career transition like I did without my team and the PMF Program – and the opportunities that are afforded to Fellows. PMF allowed me to have a job immediately after finishing my Master’s and has helped my career grow far beyond that." The #PMF Program is a paid, two-year, excepted-service opportunity that is designed to develop future leaders who are committed to excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs. The application window for the Class of 2025 PMF Program is open through 12 p.m. ET on Sept 18. Learn more and apply: https://lnkd.in/gq-iUgwR

Today we shine the spotlight on the Adult Care Leader Level 5 Qualification, suitable for the Home Managers, Clinical Leads, and Care Coordinators at Colten Care. It helps them develop skills for regulatory compliance, risk management, and quality assurance in our care homes. These roles have a large element of leadership, and they will focus on a people-centred approach, promoting participation, dignity, and diversity. The qualification emphasises efficient resource management, clear communication of policies, and improving practices within our care home settings. It provides the skills to recognise abuse signs, ensure a safe working and living environment, and stay updated on adult care trends and best practices. The Leader in Adult Care guides and inspires the leaders in our homes to make positive differences to the lives of residents, who are often faced with physical, practical, social, emotional, psychological or intellectual challenges. 🌟 Exciting 2 days out of the office with alumni from the Defence Medical Leadership Programme (DMLP)! 🌟 Defence Medical Academy Bringing together all four cohorts was an incredible experience, filled with rich insights, thoughtful reflections, and powerful connections. What truly resonated with me was the incredible comfort and bravery we discovered in sharing our stories of adversity and triumph. 🌟 Embracing vulnerability as a leadership trait normalises our experiences and empowers open dialogue. #TeamStrength #Resilience #Authenticity 💬 When leaders show vulnerability, they foster a culture of trust, empathy, and connection. It’s about breaking down barriers and creating a space where everyone feels valued and heard. 🤝 Let’s continue to champion this approach. Imagine the innovation and growth we can achieve when we lead with our hearts and minds wide open. 💡❤️ The power of this network is phenomenal, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to grow together. 💬🤝 #Leadership #Vulnerability #Empowerment #Authenticity #Growth #InclusiveLeadership #HumanConnection #DMLP #Networking #Growth #Resilience #Community 🛡️👩⚕️👨⚕️🌱
‘There is no learning without action and no (sober and deliberate) action without learning’. Reg Revans wrote this following his work on the development and application of action learning, an approach to problem-solving in the workplace that enables colleagues to draw on their collective abilities to find innovative solutions. If you’ve not used this approach before, there’s a really useful guide available from NHS England: https://lnkd.in/em2jV7Ty We’ve found the use of action learning sets to be hugely useful by virtue of the opportunity they provide for gaining different perspectives on an issue and opening ourselves up to new ideas. For these reasons action learning forms an important part of our Defence Medical Leadership Programme (DMLP). It certainly proved its benefit once again this week when we gathered alumni from across four DMLP cohorts to explore our ambitions and goals for supporting leadership development across the organisation. It can be tricky to carve out time in busy schedules to take stock and look to the future, but it’s so important. So many people commented on the value of reconnecting and being able to discuss challenging issues in a safe space. Thanks so much to John Barclay BStJ MSc FTEA, Sue Pope and Rebekah Jones for making the event possible, and to all the alumni who travelled to contribute to the event. #leadershipdevelopment #healthcareleadership #organisationaldevelopment

Choosing to pursue a #master's as a working professional can feel like a gamble; what does the #MasterOfHealthLeadershipAndPolicy offer to mitigate this risk and ensure career growth? For starters, the #MHLP is designed to empower professionals who have several years of industry experience to take the next step in their careers. Students graduate with an understanding of the latest issues facing their industry and with the business and leadership skills to advance in their careers and guide projects and teams. “Most classes require students to complete group projects that are developed in partnership with external clients,” says Martino Tran, former Co-Director. “Students work with professionals from other disciplines while gaining hands-on experience doing applied project work, with real milestones and real deliverables for stakeholders.” No matter what the program, these projects push students to acquire new skills in new contexts. As Cheryl Ann Segaric, Director of the MHLP #ClinicalEducation, explains, “Much of the project work involves simulated learning approaches where students work in teams to gain skills in interprofessional collaboration and teamwork. Assignments enable students to take a practical, pragmatic approach to the types of challenges they will actually be experiencing.” These exclusive events enable students to network with industry leaders and expand their understanding of the latest issues in their field. They are also excellent opportunities to meet with other professionals in an informal setting conducive to conversation and sharing ideas. Margret Lin, a student in the MHLP in #SeniorsCare, attended a conference and was interested in one of the topics under discussion. She reached out to the coordinator to inquire about research being done in this area, which led to a connection to an organization, a volunteer opportunity and a job offer months before she’d even graduated. “When I applied to the program, the tagline was ‘one year can change your life,’” says alumni Gary Singh. “That was definitely true for me. Going to UBC and doing the MHLP in Seniors Care changed my life.” To read more about the benefits of the MHLP, follow the link in the comments. #UBCMHLP #BusinessLeadership #HealthcareBusiness #HealthcareInnovation #HealthcareLeadership #Vancouver
