Securing school groups to perform the National Anthem in minor league sports is nothing new; but when I was first hired by the Admirals as a sales rep, we only hosted a handful of schools each season. I saw a huge untapped market and an opportunity not only to earn commission, but a way to build fans at the grass-roots level as well. Fast forward a few years and the Admirals' "School Spirit Night" program has turned into a revenue generation and fan creation machine. Last season we hosted a school spirit night at 22 out of 25 Friday and Saturday games. This program is a win-win-win. The school can add a fun family event to their school calendar at no-cost, and in many cases, makes a profit through fundraising. The students gets to hang out with their classmates outside of school, and perform in front of thousands of people, creating a lifelong memory. The team fills seats and creates fans for life. I've found the majority of students that get to perform have never been to a hockey game before, and I've been told by teachers it’s the #1 requested event by returning students every fall. This season we aim to host 1-2 school spirit nights at every game; and here in early July we are nearly 50% of the way there! #Fansforlife #Groupsales #Gameops #Memorycreation #Schools #Events #Fevo #Fundraising #Schoolspirit

Another "W" in the latest round in the fight for equity at DBG Detroit (Downtown Boxing Gym) Official. Last year, DBG applied to MacKenzie Scott's first ever #YieldGivingOpenCall through Lever for Change along with 6,353 other applicants across the US. After an exhaustive review and due diligence process led by industry experts and peer organizations, DBG was among the less than 6% of applicants awarded a grant and rated highest in the country with an elite group, resulting in an amplified donation of $2M from Scott’s team, doubling their original gift amount. We were the only youth development organization in Detroit to receive this generous award. This recent gift was announced on the heels of the National Science Foundation (NSF) 5-Year, $2M research grant to study DBG's STEM-based programming. DBG will be the only organization in the study due to the highly effective outcomes and non-traditional approach - 90% of DBG graduates are pursuing a STEM career. It's also following the recent award from the Library of Congress for the American Prize which DBG was the only US organization recognized for their literacy excellence, averaging a 5.5 reading level increase per year with students. This national recognition for a Detroit-based organization, in its infancy, highlights the extraordinary and measured impact as well as the capacity for growth. It also speaks to the visionary leadership of founder, Khali Sweeney and the remarkable team and culture that Jessica Hauser spearheads. To recognize the importance on day 1 to measure efficacy and involve the "customer" in the formation of the program makes common sense but is extremely innovative in this space. “On paper, I’m the CEO - but actually the kids are the CEOs of this company, and they run this company. I’m an employee like everyone else. Represent this brand well. Do not take this job lightly, take it seriously. Give 110%. Our CEOs deserve the best. These kids deserve the best out of you." - Khali Sweeney, Founder & CEO DBG Detroit (Downtown Boxing Gym) Official Learn more about MacKenzie Scott’s historic gift and DBG’s expansion plans here: https://lnkd.in/gFBDsJ6S #YieldGivingOpenCall #SocialImpact #DBGDetroit #equityforall #youthdevelopment #leadership

Justin Adams reporting on the importance of the Daniels Fund Youth Sports Giving Day online fundraiser for organizations like Athletics & Beyond featured in the story is NFL/Denver Bronco veteran Ryan Harris. Since 2005, Athletics & Beyond has been a dedicated advocate for breaking down the barriers that limit access to sports, education, careers, and other opportunities, particularly those rooted in socioeconomic factors. We believe that all children should have an equal opportunity to participate in sports, to learn and grow, to connect with others, and to discover and pursue their dreams. * All children deserve to enjoy the lifetime benefits of being physically active and playing sports. * Youth sports participation is lower than it should be, especially for kids in low-income families and communities of color. Youth Sports Giving Day is a way for Coloradans to come together and strike out inequality. * Playing sports can give every kid a winning chance at life. Donate and help level the playing field. * * Research shows positive sports experiences as a young person can develop the whole child and contribute to success as an adult. By giving today, we can help all Colorado youth experience the joys and benefits of playing sports. Every kid in Colorado deserves a shot at success. Playing sports with trained coaches who are focused on the right goals sets kids up to not only beat the odds, but also to change the odds for others. How can you help? With our 318 SPORTS program, every champion’s journey is a story of growth, resilience, and finding their path. One of our remarkable athletes shared how her passion for basketball began with a simple piece of advice from her parents: “Go where the tree goes.” That wisdom led her to the court, where she discovered her love for the game and began her journey as a basketball player. As a key program of the 318 Foundation, 318 SPORTS is more than just a training ground; it’s a place where talent meets opportunity. We’re dedicated to empowering young athletes, especially those who need more exposure or resources to succeed. Our programs aim to develop athletic skills and personal growth, empowering these young women to lead on and off the court. We believe in the power of sports to transform lives, and that’s why our approach goes beyond just physical training. We provide our champions the tools they need to excel in every aspect of their lives—from leadership courses and wellness support to financial literacy and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) education. At 318 SPORTS, we’re committed to building the future of female athletes by empowering them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. The 318 Foundation, through programs like 318 SPORTS, is dedicated to closing the opportunity gap for Black girls and historically marginalized communities. We’re building a community where every athlete can thrive, with a network that believes in their potential and is committed to these girl’s success. ✨ To learn more about our programs and how to donate, please visit: https://lnkd.in/eJiuYD94 #318Foundation #318SPORTS #AthleteStories #GirlsInSports #ClosingTheOpportunityGap

Playing football is simple. It’s just kicking a sphere. However, proper skilled training sessions are not always accessible to everyone. – This is the base thought of the mission for the newly formed Jersey Bulls Foundation—the charitable extension of Jersey Bulls FC The full mission statement gets more involved (I will pop it below), but the crux is more opportunity for those with limited options/resources. I’ve been on this project (mostly in the branding/positioning ‘department’ of course) for a few months—it turns out that setting up a charity involves quite a lot of sticky red tape. So it was great to have our launch event this month: a ten-team School Year 4 mixed-gender five-a-side tournament. A lot of hyphens in that sentence, surely not all used correctly. Hard work is being done to bring more robust initiatives live in the coming months. I won’t go into that here, but you can read more online if please www.jbfcfoundation.je Of course, the JBFC Foundation seeks to develop long-term partnerships with local primary schools and corporate sponsors, so if you can support, do make yourselves known. – Our core mission is to increase participation in sport (especially football) for children and women in Jersey, by offering vibrant, inclusive and accessible sporting activities for all, regardless of gender, ability, background or circumstances. Our initiatives are designed to expand the community reach of Jersey Bulls, focusing on the positive aspects of social interaction and the simple joy of playing the beautiful game. Recognising and embracing different ability levels, our goal (pun intended) is to inspire the pursuit of excellence in sport, encouraging individuals to reach their potential, and creating the pathways towards the top for higher-talent players. – The post must end with a shout out to the awesome photography of Lauren Trachy. Great job capturing my SUPERB reffing action. And also some children kicking around that sphere. – milk brand house | #branding #design #animation

Unlocking influence: What can athletes, artists, marketing professionals, and creatives learn about brand building? - Author, Film Producer, Podcast Host, Keynote Speaker, NIL Thought Leader, Educator.
One of the unspoken aspects of today's college athletics landscape is. Where will the money come from? Here is what I am seeing around the country 1) Donor fatigue is real 2) Poaching of donors from one list to another is on the rise 3) Collective contract prohibiting athletes from making individual NIL deals. 4) Athletes are becoming entitled and demanding larger NIL payments without deliverables. My solution: *Create meaningful, valuable life skills through education. *Enable athletes to leverage their platform to enhance their value, offsetting the collective opportunities * Create tangible benefits for donors and sponsors, such as community service, to maintain their support and involvement. #DonorSupport #CommunityService #Sponsorship #CorporateSocialResponsibility REAL NIL For All from The Players NIL https://lnkd.in/g-cJXdmk

Three years ago I started PANDA STRONGER out of State College. I did so to combat the rising costs of things like Team Snap, Playmetrics, Sports Engine, NCSA, CaptainU, Press Sports, etc. We are succeeding. We now have clients all over the country - and we have done so all by word of mouth. We are seeing a lot of penetration into the Division II, III, JuCo, and NAIA collegiate levels. We are also picking up high schools and clubs from all over. In the spring, we launched our Club PANDA module which is the business administration side for clubs, camps, and registrations. This summer, we launched our revolutionary new college recruiting module to help college coaches find athletes through analytics. No one else does what we do. We want the market to be more efficient and affordable. But a funny thing happened along the way. We also realized any organization, club, or group that wants free calendars, group chats, notifications, etc., can also use PANDA Stronger. We were built to be sports centric, but anyone can use us. Try our social media tools and profiles! It is hard to beat FREE. And we are FREE. Visit our website at www.PANDAstronger.com. All I ask is you tell your school athletic department and club leaders about us. If we can save schools and clubs a few thousand dollars each, plus save the parents from spending thousands on college recruiting tools, we have done our job!!

A golden toilet - aka the “#PotOfGold” refreshed by DUDE Wipes. The #PowerOfSport provides opportunities to prove that sports are so much more than goals and points scored or wins and losses. This past weekend at the popular BODYARMOR Sports Series media day, student athletes from the city and suburbs, public and private schools from all different backgrounds in #Chicago came together to meet off the field, have a little fun in the Field Day Olympics and #GoForTheGold competing for the “Pot Of Gold.” #DYK: #ColonCancer is a real issue, as 1 in 23 men and 1 in 25 women are impacted. It also is on the rise in young adults and has been for years. Yale Medicine surgeons who treat it are urging proactive screenings for young people, pointing to the rising rates related to environmental and lifestyle factors. Over the past 20 years, colon cancer rates have increased by: 500 percent: In children ages 10–14 333 percent: In teens ages 15–19 185 percent: In people ages 20–24 To help engage and educate student athletes around the topic, they competed in team-building challenges against their peers. The winning school earned the right to the “Pot Of Gold” over the next month, which enables it to secure $2 donations. The pot can be brought to school, in the community, to football games, etc. School programs are always looking for fun ways to fundraise, and this provides an opportunity for student athletes to be leaders off the field in the #GameOfLife by engaging and educating their peers and overall community about the importance of proactive screenings. Each person who donates $2 will also get a “Golden Ticket” after scanning a QR code. The ticket encourages proactive screenings. The “Pot Of Gold” will be split between the school program, the Golden Ticket winner and The Colon Club. In 20 years, most student athletes, coaches and parents won’t recall the scores of all their games this season. But if we help save 1 life of a young adult, their parent or family friend, then we’ll have scored the biggest win of the 2024 fall high school sports season. Always remember: Sport is so much more than just games. Self Care, YOU Care.

Leveling the Playingfield - Sports Fundraising Youth sports and high school sports are an integral part of keeping kids active and safe as well as learning leadership, communication and responsibility. One of the things that I realize is that some sports are far more expensive and out of reach for some of our athletes in urban communities. Competitive cheer is one of those sports. I’ve been involved in the sport as an athlete, coach, supervisor and parent for over 30 years. It has grown considerably on the high school level. There are required camps, clinics, choreography, competitions, equipment, uniforms and travel expenses associated with this sport that really no other sport has. Uniforms can run up to $500 a piece in All Star and $300 for high school, competition fees can be per athlete close to $200, camps close to $500 and travel to compete at Nationals is $20-30K per team. Very few schools in urban districts can afford to compete in this sport without CONSIDERABLE fundraising, which is elusive due to the socioeconomic background of the team and who they are pitching to. Suburban districts, like where I live, have no issues getting people to buy raffles, sponsor teams, donate money, form booster clubs and get their programs funded. When you look at the demographics of programs that compete in cheer, very few programs are from inner cities or have large amounts of black athletes. I always remind my athletes that it’s not a sport catered to race but rather money. How do we solve this problem? How do we raise money in communities where that’s hard? How do we garner more support from schools in support of these athletes wanting to compete? We want our kids to have the same opportunity but we just can’t afford it. #Youth #Sports #Fundraising #Cheerleading
