Wrapping up our engagement at the #WHS2023! We attended thought provoking sessions on emerging and reemerging topics such as #AI and health, #climate and health, #TB, and others. Great to catch up with many clients and partners and look forward to implementing new ideas! Further, our Mario Ottiglio moderated a very insightful panel on the #UHC and #selfcare, joined by panelist from WHO, UNFPA, GSCF and FIP. This event also served to launch a United Nations interagency statement on self-care interventions for sexual and reproductive health and rights to advance universal health coverage. Stay tuned for a more interactive recap ! A couple of shots below, including a 📸 of our team on the quest for dinner! Cassie Dormond Sophie Robert

New rural and remote women’s sexual and reproductive health service. Comment by Christopher Cliffe: “When we talk about ‘access to healthcare’ we cannot just talk about physical proximity. We also need to think about the unique needs of rural, remote and Aboriginal patients and whether services are ‘appropriate’. There is little value in funding services that are available locally in rural towns, but which no-one uses. The Foundation is based in Collarenebri in remote NSW. Ninety percent of our staff live and work in rural and remote towns. More than 30 percent of our staff are Aboriginal people. These factors give the Foundation a unique capability to understand the needs of rural, remote and Aboriginal women and girls in a way that others cannot, and to co-design solutions that work”. https://lnkd.in/gqJgirnB #sexualhealth #womenshealth #reproductivehealth #aboriginalhealth #nursepractitioner

Many agree that integrating financial literacy support with sexual and reproductive health (SRH) programs is crucial to addressing the multifaceted needs of adolescent girls. However, putting this into practice isn't straightforward, especially with a lack of programmatic guidance. A360, in collaboration with Kore Global, has developed a knowledge brief offering an in-depth understanding of how to design programs that effectively address the complex needs of girls to help them build a secure and healthy future. A new survey of 2,570 female patients across Australia reveals that over 70% of Aussie women face gender bias in healthcare. Conducted by the National Women's Health Advisory Council, the report found that the highest incidents occurred in sexual and reproductive health and chronic pain. These experiences are often disrespectful and demeaning interactions while undergoing the most private and vulnerable screenings. Last month, the Foundation's Research Coordinator, Emma Shiffman, shared key insights from our work on sexual and #ReproductiveHealth at the 2024 Conference of ANSER - Academic Network for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Policy. Emma emphasised that #pharma companies' commitments to scale up access to reproductive health medicines need to be tailored in a way that they can be held accountable and so that other stakeholders, such as academia and civil society, can track and allocate additional resources, and help address existing disparities. #SexualandReproductiveHealth is a key aspect of our overall health as individuals. Conversations around SRHR have been ongoing and various stakeholders have invested resources to improve care and create more awareness of the importance of #SexualandReproductiveHealth. There is still however more that can be done to improve access and quality of care, especially among the lower-income populations. When you arm people with information and provide them the opportunities to make better decisions especially when it comes to their health, you empower them! Are you passionate about creating sustainable solutions to better care with regards to sexual and reproductive health? Have you identified gaps in the care and management of sexual reproductive health? Share your abstracts with us to be featured during our 3rd Annual youTH Voices Summit. Guidelines on submission can be accessed through https://lnkd.in/dwc3XgPZ Registration for the summit is also currently ongoing. New Publication ✨ : How do youth synthesize racialized experiences and work to dismantle systems of oppression? This article provides an overview of a Youth Participatory Action Research study that used Photovoice and community mapping to explore how structural violence, like racism, impacts the sexual and reproductive health of historically excluded youth as they navigate unjust socio-political landscapes. We provide an analysis of the ways structural racism functions as a gendered racial project and fundamental cause of adolescent sexual and reproductive health inequities, while identifying pathways toward liberation in pursuit of health and well-being. https://lnkd.in/eeuqhda6 Dixon SL, Salerno Valdez E, Chan J, et al. In the past half century, progress has been made to improve access to sexual and reproductive health and rights #SRHR. Yet stark inequalities persist, preventing women and girls, particularly those in low- and middle-income countries #LMICs, from realising their full rights to health. Special Report in the 2022 #AccesstoMedicine Index #ATMI22 highlights critical areas where #pharma companies can do more to address access issues for SRHR-related diseases and health needs impacting women and girls. Are companies investing in R&D for new products and formulations addressing SRHR? What specific strategies are they employing in LMICs to expand access to SRHR products?
