With one in nine people in the world facing hunger every day, HLF proudly supports Hunger Action Month each September to inspire action for change in our communities. This year, our teammates partnered with Feed Nova Scotia, Lunenburg Food Pantry and The Salvation Army Mississauga to nourish those in need. From a washer toss competition to raise much-needed funds, and collecting non-perishable food donations, to rolling up our sleeves and making over 600 bagged lunches, we truly care about giving back to the communities we live and work in. Today marked another special recognition of High Liner Foods’ 125th anniversary as we rang the Toronto Stock Exchange bell, live from our home in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia! The symbolic bell-ringing ceremony also commemorated HLF being listed on the TSX for over 50 years. The event took place at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, across the bay from our Lunenburg plant, and the location of an early High Liner Foods fish processing plant. Mark your calendars! December 12th has been declared ‘High Liner Foods Day’! In honour of our 125th anniversary, the Town of Lunenburg announced this special designation to recognize the long-standing contributions that HLF has made to Lunenburg’s economic development and maritime heritage since our founding in 1899. “For 125 years, High Liner Foods has been reimagining seafood to nourish families across North America,” said Paul Jewer, President & CEO High Liner Foods. “High Liner has quite a storied history, all of which started in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and we are deeply honoured that the community has recognized us by declaring our anniversary, December 12, High Liner Foods Day.” To celebrate, we are excited to share this anniversary video commemorating the incredible story of High Liner Foods and the bright future ahead of us as we continue to inspire more seafood on everyone’s plate. As part of the HR team, our Organizational Effectiveness (OE) team plays a vital role in supporting HLF’s people-first, high-performance culture by attracting top talent and offering employees endless growth and development opportunities.  Keep reading to learn more about their exciting world of work!  What are the main responsibilities of your team?    Our energetic team of five is organized into three main roles: Talent Attraction is dedicated to hiring top talent for HLF, managing all salaried hires in North America and assisting with hourly recruitment. They help showcase what makes HLF a great place to work, and build brand recognition to attract, source, and hire the best talent.   Learning & Development is concentrated on creating and implementing comprehensive learning and development programs for the HLF team that align with our organizational goals and support our teammates’ growth and career ambitions.  Core OE focuses on implementing practices, systems, and technologies to support both organizational and individual performance. This includes individual development plans, succession planning, employee engagement and more. Our aim is to foster growth and ensure teammates feel happy and connected to HLF’s culture.  What challenges does your team work to overcome?    We live in a dynamic business environment filled with opportunities and changes.
