Join us as we meet the people behind the fish.    Reg Brewer is a Superintendent at our Lunenburg Plant who recently celebrated his 25-year work anniversary. Let’s hear more from Reg!    What initially drew you to HLF, and how has your role evolved since joining?  I initially worked for a value-added seafood facility in Burin, NL, which became part of HLF in 2007. My family has a long history of working in the industry, so one could say it was in my blood to also start a career in seafood. I began as a temporary Quality Assurance (QA) Tech, quickly moving to full-time before I became QA Manager within a year. Over the next 20 years, my role continued to evolve, and I relocated from NL to our Lunenburg, NS facility in 2012. In 2021, I moved from QA to the production management side of the business, working to meet customer orders and efficiency targets.  Reflecting on your time here, what accomplishment are you most proud of?  That’s hard to say. There have been a lot of small wins over my 25-year career. Despite the difficult decision my wife and I made to leave ‘home’ for a new province with new coworkers, I quickly became a key part of the management team and I’m very proud of how my family adapted to life in Lunenburg. Both of my sons were active in local sports and did well in school, which helped us settle into the community.  My son Zach was even awarded one of the HLF scholarships in 2023. Safe to say we’ve made a home here.    Can you share a favourite memory or moment from your time at HLF?  Many memories were made while I had the opportunity to travel on behalf of the company, meeting new people in our network of coworkers, suppliers and customers.      How has HLF changed in your time with the company?  HLF has changed significantly, growing and becoming a much larger company. When I became part of the HLF family, each operation very much functioned independently. Now, save for a few local differences, we work more closely together as one team.     What do you think sets HLF apart from other companies?  I think HLF shows a lot of integrity through our commitment to environmental stewardship and our dedication to sustainability and philanthropy is remarkable. Also, the recent launch of HLF C.A.R.E.S, as well as our “Build a Better Me” wellness program shows that the company is really invested in the well-being of their employees.    Looking ahead, what are you most excited about for the future of HLF?  I’m excited to see HLF continue to focus on innovation, from developing new products and packaging technologies to incorporating new equipment technologies into our processing facilities.  #HighLinerFoods #HLF125 #ReimaginingSeafoodToNourishLife #ChangingTheWayWeSeeFood #anniversary #peoplefirst #culture
