Did you know about the HTH Graduate School of Education? The High Tech High Graduate School of Education (GSE) is an integral part of our unique educational model and an unparalleled partner. The GSE’s journal of adult learning, “Unboxed,” provides a distinctive view of project-based learning, equity, and more. This platform shares insights and innovations from teaching professionals, including many from HTH. We’re sharing Unboxed content with our K12 families and community. Consider this prior project from High Tech High Chula Vista: Inspired by NASA’s challenges in space agriculture, the project was a collaboration of teachers Meghan White, Connor Tait, and Kara Quinlan. They engaged 11th graders in real-world problem-solving: developing methods to grow food in space and facing obstacles such as the absence of natural light, gravity, and space. 🔍 Living Science Mini Expedition Did you know that even our elementary students get to experience the excitement of a science expedition? Every spring, they participate in a Mini Expedition right here on campus! This hands-on adventure lets our younger learners explore nature, conduct experiments, and apply what they’ve learned in class—all while staying at school. It’s the perfect introduction to the world of scientific discovery and prepares them for future middle school expeditions. At Living Science, we believe in going beyond academic excellence by inspiring curiosity and real-world learning from the very beginning. #DiscoverLivingScience #HandsOnLearning #GoingBeyondAcademics

Mam of three girls | Northern lass | Ill-fated Egyptologist | Fair weather archaeologist | Thwarted forensic scientist | Passionate about all things weird (and science innovation) | Business Development Manager at CPI
It 830 on a Sunday, last week of term! Although we home educate, online lessons run term times, with breaks at Easter, Christmas and the Summer. Some observe half terms, others don't. We use these online lessons, so that the girls can pursue their own interests, we can chop and change, and move with their ever changing ambitions. Why is this morning so important as a home educator? Well one of the online providers launch the next block of lessons, at 9 on the last Sunday of the term. Fingers crossed we get spaces! We already have our priority (as current students) for Enigmas and Wild about Animals, but we are hoping for Primary Science, Pony Club (!) and hopefully Astronomy, come September! #mamofthreegirls #homeeducation #earlybird

This is such an important part of a child’s education - to develop the courage and confidence to make mistakes and learn from them what worked and what didn’t… and then use this to inform the next iteration. If children are to become independent adults, reliant on themselves, not others, to know what to do next, they must learn as children that mistakes are good things and the portals to progress, self-belief and autonomy. Great to see this front and centre of The Learning Skills Trust schools’ culture.
Resilience and reflection are key components of the West Hill Park School, Titchfield Beehive of learning skills. Our role as educators is to create the environment in which children can take risks, embrace mistakes and grow in their knowledge, understanding and application of their learning objectives. I try to explain more in this blog post.

It's not (always) about the tools you use, but instead how you approach the problem. Classical education trains children how to think rigorously and uniquely problem-solve: essential strategies, regardless of field!
FIRST IN THE STATE! 🧪🧬⚡️SCIENCE OLYMPIAD DE STATE CHAMPIONS! Have you heard the news? A small Christian school that teaches in the classical tradition, doesn't distribute laptops and iPads, doesn’t use technology in the classrooms, and doesn’t have a formal STEM program just placed 1st in Delaware in The Division B (Middle School) Delaware Science Olympiad for the second consecutive year! This is the result of developing a well trained mind through robust science and math instruction and an array of other reasoning-based liberal arts subjects which are taught as an integrated whole with Scripture at the center. This formation of creative- and critical-learners enables DVCS students who are classically trained in the liberal arts to outperform their peers from all other types of schools (including STEM schools) and in all subject areas, including math and science. Our school is distinct. At Delaware Valley Classical School, we focus on training the mind and forming the soul. Skills are easier to acquire. Our students are equipped to excel in STEM fields – this is the proof. Schedule an open house tour and see Delaware's best kept secret for yourself: https://lnkd.in/e28zgvkP. Stay tuned as our Team prepares to compete at the national level in Michigan! The Division B DVCS team which placed first overall out of 32 teams from across the state of Delaware won medals in 20 events including: * Codebusters (1st) * Meteorology (1st) * Reach for the Stars (1st) * Tower (1st) * Air Trajectory (2nd) * Forestry (2nd) * Roller Coaster (3rd) * Optics (3rd) * Wind Power (3rd) * Write It, Do It (3rd) * Dynamic Planet (4th) * Ecology (4th) * Wheeled Vehicle (4th) * Anatomy & Physiology (5th) * Fast Facts (5th) * Wonders of Electricity (7th) * Flight (8th) * Fossils (10th) * Road Scholar (10th) #delawarechristianschool #delawareprivateschool #christianschool #classicalchristianschool #classicalchristianeducation #delawareprivateschool #christianeducation #liberalarts #scienceolympiad #science #middleschool #stem #statechampions #delaware #firststateupdate

🚀 What a journey it’s been over the last two weeks, traveling across the U.S. from Boston to Chicago, LA, New York, and Northern California and the Central Valley. This trip has been all about supporting teachers and leaders in adopting small, doable habits that are short and sharp, yet sustainable—routines that truly make a substantial difference in student learning across schools yet are realistic in the busyness of the school day. 🌎✏️ Today was a fantastic opportunity outside Los Angeles to collaborate with secondary math teachers on approaches that ensure clarity, deepen mathematical understanding, and transform student engagement from motion to action during guided practice. 🧩✨ We explored a variety of impactful strategies, including: • Same Surface, Different Deep: Finding the underlying connections in seemingly different problems. • Slow Reveal: Gradually unveiling information to build anticipation and deepen thinking. See an example below (the new data sets are awesome!) • Backward Fading: Supporting students by providing structured help that decreases over time. • Frayer Modeling: Using graphic organizers to deepen concept comprehension. • Complex Conversations: Encouraging meaningful, math-focused dialogue. • 2 Box Induction: Helping students see relationships and make predictions. …and much more. Each practice is designed to be practical and sustainable, helping educators elevate learning experiences that resonate. 🏫🔍 A huge thank you to all the dedicated educators who continue to inspire with their commitment to making every moment count. Together, we’re impacting student learning 1% more every day and having fun doing it! 📚💡 #Education #TeacherSupport #StudentLearning #MathEducation #SustainablePractices #ProfessionalDevelopment #ClarityInTeaching #DeepLearning #GuidedPractice
