Simply, it can increase or decrease the voltage and current, but the total power and frequency remain the same. 🎯 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬: 🔹 Copper losses (I²R losses) depend on the current flowing through the transformer windings, while iron losses (core losses) depend on the voltage. 🔹 Total losses depend on both voltage (V) and current (I), which are measured in volt-amperes (VA), rather than the load power factor (PF). 🔹 Therefore, transformer ratings are given in VA or kVA, not in watts (W) or kilowatts (kW). 🎯 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞: 🔸 When manufacturers design a transformer, they don't always know what kind of load it will handle. This means they can't be certain of its exact applications. The load could be resistive (R), inductive (L), or capacitive (C).
