The European Prize for Women Innovators celebrates the women entrepreneurs behind Europe's most game-changing innovations. The prize awards women from across the EU and countries associated to Horizon Europe, whose disruptive innovations are driving positive change for people and planet. Since 2023, the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) and the European Institute for Innovation & Technology (EIT) have teamed up to create a bigger and bolder European Prize for Women Innovators, with no fewer than 9 prizes to be awarded. There are three prize categories: 📌 In the EIC Women Innovators category, three prizes of EUR 100 000, EUR 70 000 and EUR 50 000 are awarded to the three highest-ranked applications; 📌 In the EIC Rising Innovators, three prizes of EUR 50 000, EUR 30 000 and EUR 20 000 are awarded to the three highest-ranked applications from promising ‘Rising Innovators’ under the age of 35. 📌 The EIT Women Leadership Award, awarded to exceptional women leaders from the EIT Community. The winner is awarded EUR 50 000, and two runners-up are awarded EUR 30 000 and EUR 20 000 respectively. Eligible applicants can only apply to one category. Having a breakthrough innovation, provides a solution for a real life problem and has a huge impact for human/planet and of course being a role model for yound women and girls. Queen's University Belfast (QUB) and the Centre for Competitiveness (CforC) hosted the Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils (GFCC) 2024 Annual Meeting and Global Innovation Summit in November, under the theme of Global Sustainability and Economic Inclusion. ESAG’s Chairperson and Managing Director, Dr. Raja Al Gurg, participated in a panel discussion on the topic ‘Breaking Barriers: The Impact of Women in Shaping an Innovative Economy’, moderated by Professor Karen McCloskey. The distinguished panel of women leaders, including Athina Chatzipetrou, GFCC Distinguished Fellow, from Greece; Clare McGee, CEO of Awaken Hub, Channel 4, UK; and Ambassador Barbara Stephenson, Vice Provost for Global Affairs and Chief Global Officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA, shared their insights. The panel discussed pivotal subjects such as the current landscape for women in innovation, challenges and barriers to entry, and fostering the next generation of women innovators. The Global Innovation Summit engaged a worldwide audience of policymakers, business leaders, and academics from five continents. At the core of the 2024 GFCC Annual Meeting and Global Innovation Summit was the understanding that global sustainability encompasses economic performance, environmental protection, and social inclusion. The landmark event, attended by key international corporate leaders, examined how, in an era of complex global challenges, innovation can act as a key driver of competitiveness, promoting global sustainability and economic inclusion on a worldwide scale.

💡🟣Reflections from the Women in Innovation Roundtable 🟣💡 Last week, we were honored to participate in Innovate UK Women in Innovation Roundtable, a powerful gathering of female leaders and changemakers dedicated to fostering a more inclusive and innovative future. Our Programme lead, Fatimah B., joined Stella Peace, Emily Nott, the Innovate UK team and Women In Innovation participants, to brainstorm strategies to further enhance the innovation ecosystem for women. Key themes included: ✅Increasing access to funding and resources for women innovators. ✅Strengthening mentorship opportunities to connect aspiring innovators with role models. ✅Building pathways for young girls to explore careers and innovation. At F4S, we are passionate about empowering women innovators and inspiring the next generation of women leaders. Through our partnership with Innovate UK, we connect young students in secondary schools with mentorship, and real-world insights into the world of innovation. There are many amazing women working hard as a collective to improve the funding opportunities for female founders and women-led businesses. In the first half of 2024, only 1.8% of venture capital funding went to female founded or co-founded businesses. Yes, that's true. It's a shocking statistic abd represented a decline from 2023, when it was 2%. Forrunately, there are many people and organisations who are committed to improving that statistic. 🚀 Commissioner Zaharieva’s First Public Appearance at the EU Partnership Stakeholders Forum in Brussels Future4prima excited to hear the EU Commissioner Zaharieva, who delivered an inspiring debut speech at the EU Partnership Stakeholders Forum in Brussels, presenting a bold vision for innovation, industry competitiveness, and the future of partnerships. 💡 She emphasized the importance of high-tech investments and eliminating duplication in EU partnerships, to drive Europe’s leadership in research and innovation (R&I). 🤝 A key highlight was the focus on gender inclusivity, showcasing the pivotal role of the almost 50 running EU partnerships in fostering equity and ensuring women take on leadership positions in R&I.
