Highfield Resources Limited (ASX:HFR) has struck binding deals with Yankuang Energy Group Co Ltd and strategic investors, including Beijing Energy International Holding Co Ltd and Singapore Taizhong Global Development Pte Ltd, to secure the remaining funding for the Muga potash project and acquire the Southey potash project in Saskatchewan, Canada. The transaction includes a US$220 million equity raise through the cornerstone placement, under which Yankuang Energy and other strategic investors will subscribe for new shares at A$0.50 per share, representing a 64% premium to the company’s last closing price. This investment will fully fund the Muga Phase 1 project, a construction-ready potash mine in Spain. Additionally, Highfield will acquire Yancoal Canada Resources, a subsidiary of Yankuang Energy and owner of the Southey project, for US$286 million. #Uzbekistan President Gave Start to Launching and Construction of Five New Projects in #Chemicals and #Power Industries in Ferghana Region [11 July]. 1. #Chemicals. Mineral #fertilizers production plant jointly with the Singapore company Indorama Corporation. Currently, its second stage for the production of highly effective complex fertilizers is being launched and the third stage is beginning. As a result, more than 300 thousand tons of products will be produced per year and additional exports of $50 million will be ensured. 2. #SolarEnergy. In the Besharyk region of Fergana, together with the German company Hyper Partners, construction of a #solarpower plant with a capacity of 500 MW begins. The first 200 MW of the $350 million project will come online this year and be fully operational next year. It will generate 1.6 billion kilowatt-hours of #greenenergy per year, which is equivalent to the annual consumption of 675,000 households. As a result, 466 million cubic meters of #naturalgas will be saved. 3. #ElectricityStorage system: In Uzbekistan, at the expense of $144 million in foreign investment, the first electricity storage system with a capacity of 150 MW will be built. The complex, created in collaboration with the Chinese company GEZHOUBA Group Co., ltd., will be launched before the end of this year. American Freeport delays launch of copper plant in Indonesia. According to Reuters, the start of production at the Manyar (Gresik) copper plant of the American company Freeport-McMoRan in Indonesia is delayed due to problems discovered during testing. The company announced the successful completion of the $3.7 billion project on the east coast of Java in June 2024. In September, the grand opening of the plant took place with the participation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo. Previously, Freeport expected to begin trial production in September, send product samples to customers in October, and begin commercial deliveries in the first quarter of 2025. But according to Reuters, the first stage has been shifted to November. For now, the company is accumulating copper concentrate at the plant, which comes from the Grasberg mine in the Indonesian part of the island of New Guinea. The Manyar plant's capacity for processing concentrate is 1.7 million tons per year. Among these projects are five industrial parks dedicated to nickel processing, valued at a combined $39.58 billion. Located in four different towns across Central and Southeast Sulawesi provinces, these parks are expected to produce mixed hydroxide precipitate, nickel, and cobalt sulphate. Indonesia has been actively leveraging its position as the world's largest nickel reserve holder to attract foreign investment and enhance its role in the global EV battery supply chain. President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who will assume office in October, has pledged to continue this policy. The industrial parks include an HPAL plant to be constructed by Indonesian company Neo Energy Materials and Chinese firm Gotion Indonesia Materials, with a combined annual output capacity of 120,000 tons of MHP nickel. Additionally, Chinese company Huayou Cobalt Co. has partnered with Vale Indonesia to develop two HPAL plants in Sulawesi. Furthermore, Italian energy giant Eni's $11.83 billion offshore gas project in the North Ganal PSC of the Makassar Strait has also been designated as a strategic initiative. Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd. (CATL), through its subsidiary Ningbo Contemporary Brunp Lygend (CBL), has signed a joint venture agreement with Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) and PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) to invest $420 million in Indonesia's nickel mining and electric vehicle (EV) battery sectors. The investment marks a key milestone in Indonesia's ambition to become a global hub for EV battery production, leveraging its rich nickel reserves to meet growing demand. The partnership will focus on both upstream nickel mining and downstream EV battery manufacturing. In this project, CBL and Antam will form a joint venture to develop nickel resources, with Antam divesting 49% of its shares in its nickel subsidiary to CBL. This collaboration aims to establish a fully integrated EV battery value chain in Indonesia, from mining to production of battery components. Nickel is a critical element in EV batteries, and Indonesia, possessing some of the world's largest nickel reserves, is strategically positioning itself to benefit from the rising demand for electric vehicles. Indonesia’s Investment Authority (#INA) is planning US$ 1 billion this year in promoting EVs, geothermal energy and to retire coal thermal power plants early. In addition, there are potential collaboration discussions in the region around Nickel mining, battery manufacturing to support EV supply chain development. Talk about long term planning!!  We do big things that take lots of time to do safely. Eventually we will spend close to $5 billion usd to develop this massive energy resource. The petroleum rights for block 292 were acquired by BP in a federal lease sale in August 2003.  The Kaskida field was discovered in 2006 in a water depth of 5,860 feet (1,790 m) and a total depth of approximately 32,500 feet (9,900 m). Drilling in block 291, located 5 miles (8.0 km) to the west from block 292, started in 2008 and oil was found in November 2009. We drilled the appraisal wells 2011 with the West Sirius Rig to 34,149m in 6,034ft deep water. Kaskida is among the largest Paleogene lower tertiary discoveries, with more than three billion barrels of oil equivalent (boe) in place. The project covers 51,800 acres, including nine blocks in the Keathley Canyon deepwater Lower Tertiary refers to deepwater drilling in the depths of more than 15,000ft in the Gulf of Mexico. The formations date back to between 23 million years and 65 million years. Discoveries in the Lower Tertiary began in 2001 and 2002 in Alaminos Canyon and Walker Ridge, followed by Keathley Canyon. The 12 prospects discovered in the area are Trident, Great White, Cascade, Chinook, St Malo, Tobago, Silvertip, Tiger, Jack, Stones, Gotcha and Kaskida.
