I am extremely happy and greatefull for the confirmation on our #EU and #USFDA food contact approval for application related materials. This is crucial for the long term survival of our and many other companies in the forestry and reusable food service items sector. The sad fact is that we have lost previously impactfull clients in the process due to unclarity of the intent with the updated regulation. Obviously, we hope to bring them and many others back with this confirmation as our products are intended for a positive impact on the #climate and human #health. For those interested, below is my view of the currently available information on endocrine disruption which is an important topic when speaking about food contact regulations. If you are unaware of what endocrine disruption is, I would suggest to google it quickly before proceeding to read below summary. Based on the information available up to October 2024, it's not directly stated whether #wood or #fossil-based #plastic is more #endocrine disruptive. However, we can infer some points: 1. Fossil-based Plastics: These are known to contain and release endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Microplastics and nanoplastics, which come from the degradation of plastics, contain chemicals that are known to disrupt endocrine functions in mammals. These chemicals can mimic hormones, leading to various health issues, including disruptions in thyroid function, reproductive systems, and potentially contributing to cancers. 2. Wood: The provided excerpts do not discuss wood in the context of endocrine disruption directly. However, generally, natural wood itself is not known for its endocrine-disrupting properties in the way synthetic materials like plastics are. However, treatments or chemicals used on wood (like varnishes, preservatives, or pesticides) might contain EDCs, but this wasn't covered in the excerpts. Given this: - Fossil-based plastics are explicitly linked with endocrine disruption due to the chemicals they release or contain, like phthalates, BPA, and other compounds that can act as xenoestrogens or affect hormone pathways. - Wood, in its natural form, doesn't typically fall into discussions about endocrine disruptors. However, if we consider processed wood products, the chemicals added during manufacturing could potentially introduce endocrine-disrupting substances, but this would be a different category from the natural wood itself. Therefore, based on current knowledge and the information provided: - Fossil-based plastics are more likely to be endocrine disruptive than natural wood. If we're comparing untreated, natural wood with fossil-based plastic, the plastic would generally be considered more of an endocrine disruptor due to its chemical makeup and degradation products.

Brilliant! Pacific Wild Open net-pen farms exploit ocean currents as an oxygen chamber for their crammed salmon, which in return take a big dump on the ocean floor. 🇨🇦 Canada, province of British Columbia, decided today to stop these open net-pen aquacultures by 2029. Bravo 👏 DISCLAIMER: I could say f*** off to a lot of things. No, shout it out at the top of my voice. And that every hour. Every second even, when I think of Pleather. Like our beloved Kim & Co.: They verbally rape leather as a natural product. They fool consumers with crazy and confusing word games into believing that their Pleather is nature-friendly and suitable for vegan consumption and her climate-themed synthetic nipple bra making your nipple go cold when Earth's temperature is rising. Duh, 🙄 In the discussion about sustainability within the fashion industry, it is above all essential to rethink our consumption habits. #LessIsMore! #HighQuality, long-lasting animal #leather can be more environmentally friendly than short-lived vegan plastic alternatives. Non-plastic, animal-free options are being developed and promise a #sustainable leather industry. But until the industry hits the jackpot, sometimes the truth is in the provocation: on that note; F*** off #Pleather.
