In the writing of Uncommon Greatness, we surveyed 4,000 leaders from all over the world, which uncovered much of the content that makes up the book. One big stat: 50% of leaders don’t believe they’re going to have enough leaders in the future. This isn’t a result of a hiring problem, or a schooling problem, or even an engagement problem. These statistics are the result of a LEADERSHIP problem. That’s why a book like Uncommon Greatness is needed. I’m excited to release it to you all in just one month! Sales leadership is about solving problems, making decisions, and achieving forward momentum. It can consume your day and week. In practice, many sales leaders are busy solving other people's problems, and the consequence to themselves can be considerable in lost time and energy. You are a leader because of your experience and knowledge, your decisiveness, and naturally, others who wish to tap that knowledge and expertise call upon you. This leadership approach has clear advantages. It is a faster way to accomplish goals in the short term. But there are pitfalls. You may spend more time doing other people's work than coaching your team, which creates other challenges. There is no easy rule of thumb on the percentage of time you should coach rather than do, but you should focus more on developing your team skills and competencies to redirect your energy on time to future-focused growth. What impact would 30 minutes of weekly coaching (not telling or advising time) have on your team?

Here's a hard truth that every sales manager needs to read, but almost no sales manager likes to acknowledge. As managers, we must take RADICAL accountability for each rep's success. Their wins - are our wins. Their failures - are our failures. Is that simple. Even as we felt like we did all we could to make them successful and they still failed, there's always something to learn from it - for both the rep and the manager. I've met managers who take accountability when reps win, but when they face adversity and it is time to register results with upper leadership... these managers only care about saving their a$$es (pardon the French - but this is irritating and sad to see) We need accountability to be able to learn, and as a result, we're able to grow. That is how we can help our reps overcome challenges and win. That is how we can ensure the next rep doesn't fall. That is also how we grow as a team - as an org. Leaders who take the radical accountability approach understand their team members' weight and impact. As J. Maxwell stated in his book "The 21 Irrefutable Laws Of Leadership": We must embrace "The Law Of Victory." - - - If you haven't read the book, I encourage you to take a read. A friend recommended it to me, and I'm so grateful for its impact on my Leadership journey. Sales Leadership Sales leadership is a dynamic and critical aspect of any business, serving as the driving force behind a company's revenue generation. Successful sales leaders are not just skilled in closing deals but also excel at inspiring and guiding their teams to reach new heights. Effective sales leadership leads leaders to create a positive impact on their teams. Unfortunately, most leaders pay too much attention to peripheral issues instead of focusing on strategy. In the picture below, a falcon has laser focus on its prey. Do you think it will miss the prey? Your guess is as good as mine.
