The Decline of Stars A title that could find published in a Film Blog or on the cover of a Hollywood newspaper, but in this case, it relates to the hotel industry. I can’t stop thinking about this topic lately… For years now, I’ve felt that stars are no longer a factor that connects us with the quality or choice of a property, nor with a budget. Accommodation options have grown so much that recent statistics show that only 4 out of 10 bookings are motivated by star ratings. It’s the end of an era… stars may “frame” a type of hotel, but they are no longer an inherent value to them. In fact, for several years now, we’ve seen proposals that definitely don’t have stars and often have a higher ADR (Average Daily Rate) than the best 5-star hotels in the same destination. Moreover, in several countries, hotel laws have abolished the star rating system. Furthermore, if we consider how many 1 or 2-star hotels exist in the world, it’s odd to think about telling a client that they’ll be staying in a 1-star hotel, isn’t it? Clearly, this last reflection should convince us that this sales resource may already be outdated for us. Lic. Pablo Veloso RDG Consulting

Problem Statement This project aims to analyse how travellers express their positive and negative experiences when reviewing a specific hotel on online platforms. Our primary objective is to identify the factors that travellers prioritize when choosing a hotel. By understanding these attributes, hotel managers can gain insights into which aspects of their establishment contribute to positive reviews and enhance the overall brand image of the hotel

I'm currently working on several hotel operator agreements and realized it's been exactly 20 years since I worked on my first one. Time flies! This made me reflect on how the landscape has evolved. One major change is the dramatic increase in the number of hotel brands, providing owners with more options (and confusion) than ever before. Perhaps related, key questions from hotel owners have also changed. What does this tell us about the direction of the industry? #hospitality #consulting #hoteloperators #hotelbrands

Today's top tip Tuesday tip is this................ Trip Advisor is not a dodo!! Although it may not have quite the clout it used to have, it is still one of the most referred to review sites when it comes to researching hotels and restaurants. And don't you all love showing off your Trip Advisor awards. A study published in the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management found that hotels that responded to reviews on TripAdvisor experienced a significant increase in their average review scores compared to those that did not respond. And a study by Cornell University found that when a hotel improves its score by one point, it can increase its rates by up to 12% and its bookings by up to 14% So those who don't think it makes a difference if you respond to your Trip Advisor reviews or not, think again! If you are having difficulty keeping up with responding to all of your reviews (not just TA but also Google, Booking and Expedia etc) in a personalised and bespoke manner that will set you apart from the rest, please get in touch as we will respond to your reviews for you! #travel #hotels #hotelmanagement #hospitality #salesandmarketing #revenuemanagement #hospitalityindustry Reviews4you - The Reputation Builders helping hotels turn their reviews into revenue ✅
