Love working for a company so actively engaged in adapting to the roiling ocean that is the financial planning and wealth management industry. We have a tide of regulatory changes every year, a living market, and historic succession shifts within the industry itself. It's great seeing our people recognized for our collective hard work. #2023HotList #InvestmentNews #Hightower #WealthAdvisors #WealthIndustry

Financial Planner in the South of the UK, helping people safeguard their money and plan for a secure future. Just like a house needs a strong foundation, I make sure your finances are rock solid and ready to grow.
Last week, I had the opportunity to listen to someone who was incredibly articulate and intelligent. It's always refreshing to learn from others, even if they may seem more knowledgeable than me. Sometimes, it's important to just sit back, listen, and appreciate what others have to share without feeling the need to always contribute or agree. During a recent investment seminar Shane Balkham made a very good point. If you review the top 10 high performing companies across all markets there is revolving door. These companies are replaced every 10 years organically by the new top performers. I think many of us have been guilty of falling into the trap of following the latest trends, whether it's in fashion or even in financial planning. Trends come and go, just like the frosted tips and flares from our school days. It's interesting to see how certain companies have their time in the spotlight for a decade before being replaced by new rising stars. In my opinion, consistency is key when it comes to making decisions, especially in financial planning and choosing the right portfolio for you. Making drastic changes to your portfolio or chasing after every new trend or high performing company can do more harm than good in the long run. It's important to stay true to your strategy and not get swayed by every fad. #financialadvice #financialplanning

A magical atmosphere in the #SwissAlps at #CransMontana! I snapped this shot myself last weekend at sunrise. Indeed, the symbol of the sun also stands for the path of enlightenment, energy, power, positivity, clarity, what we want to live, create, make our way, and leave our mark: in short, our personal fulfillment. With these encouraging words, we wish you all every success in 2024. Happy Holidays to our entire community ! A big and special thank you to our Clients, Investors, and Partners for the great satisfaction they bring us, for their ongoing support and for including us in their investment scheme as a Trusted Principal Advisor. We will continue to focus on asset allocation, idea generation and performance. Alignment of interests, commitment, transparency, and attention to risk management will always be at the heart of our investment process and the due diligence of the strategies we identify. I expect another favorable year to delineate new investments and positive returns of our clients’ portfolios, as in the past 2 years, regardless of exogenous and geopolitical factors impacting most asset classes and an acceleration of negative disruptions. To put the scenarios in context, I believe in our asset allocation and strategies for the consistency of their returns, for the how the environment plays out and what calibrated risks they chase. I'm excited by the prospect of pursuing strong relationships with my Clients, Investors and Partners, while sharing the common goal of real and sustainable alpha, by 2024-2025-2026. NEW UK Private Markets - our latest industry study will uncover the appetite, opportunities, and barriers for asset managers in this exciting sector…details attached. #privatemarkets #assetmanagers #fundselectors #privatecredit #privatedebt #unlisted
Senior leaders from Schroders, Fidelity International and M&G tell Financial News that fund groups must pay attention to unlisted assets in a recent round table. Here at Research in Finance we can help with UK Private Investment Markets Study (UKPIMS), a new annual, multi-stakeholder study into market understanding of, and appetite for, private equity, private credit, unlisted infrastructure, and unlisted real estate. - The study profiles target clients in the UK, exploring attitudes, needs, and barriers to investing in private markets. - Geographical coverage will be expanded in future waves. - Competitor benchmarking enables stakeholders to learn who the perceived market leaders are overall, as well as for specific asset classes. If you would like to find out more, please get in touch with Mick Hrabe or Richard Ley. You can also call us on 0207 104 2235. #privatemarkets #assetmanagement #ukmarkets

And now, for something completely different, and slightly contrarian – rays of optimism, at least when it comes to emerging managers. Jon Finger, a partner with McGuireWoods LLP, states the case in the June Buyouts cover story by Chris Witkowsky: “I’m not painting a picture of all unicorns and roses... it’s not easy but it’s not as bad as people are saying it is. Yes, fundraising is down but that doesn’t mean the sky is falling.” Yes, the countervailing, less optimistic view is that LPs tend to stick with familiar, big-name firms, which makes it harder for the little entities. But if emerging managers are nimble, they can find fertile ground. We round out our cover package with a list of 10 emerging managers to watch, put together by Chris and Kirk Falconer (dive into https://lnkd.in/edVNx5rW for a much longer list). One name on the roster, Unity Partners, is notable in that it is committed to putting in place shared-equity programs in all its portfolio companies. They are hardly alone in this admirable strategy, as we showed last month when we profiled KKR (the polar opposite of an emerging manager) and its pioneering employee ownership initiatives, but it is promising to see this trend continue, no matter who is implementing it.
