I had the distinct honour and privilege of MCing the Annual Women in Road Safety Conference earlier this week. The conference serves as a platform to educate women about the power they possess to influence the road safety agenda and make road safety a priority. The conference further aims to highlight the opportunities and challenges of safe and sustainable mobility to reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities sustained on our roads.

One of the things I am intentional about this year is my personnel and professional growth. I will take any and every opportunity to learn from those who know and those willing teach, even just for a moment. Recently a friend invited me to a corporate event where the gifted and highly acclaimed former Public Protector of South Africa Ms. Thuli Madonsela was speaking. I am forever grateful for this invitation because in that hour or so that she spoke I picked up a thing or two that I will forever take with me.

Exciting things happening on the continent.

I had the distinct privilege to attend the 6th Namibia International Energy Conference (NIEC2024) which took place in Windhoek last week. My interest in attending the conference was to satisfy my curiosity as to what (the new to Namibia) oil and gas industry was all about and what there was in store for us as a country. I also wanted to understand how we as ordinary Namibians could prepare and upskill ourselves to ensure we are ready to answer the call when the time comes. I must say that I was able to satisfy my curiosity and then some and gained great insight as to what lies ahead for Namibia. I am excited at the opportunities that lay before us, my only prayer is that the benefits from the industry will trickle down to the grassroots and benefit all Namibians.

This past Saturday I had the privilege and honour to serve as a panelist at the 4th annual Nedbank Namibia Women in Media Conference. The panel discussed the relationship between Public Relation practitioners and journalists in Namibia. We explored how we can strengthen our relationship as well as how best we can work together to ensure our mutual benefits. The conference was attended by over 200 women from different fields and professions as well as by aspiring journalists and aspiring PRO's. What an honour it was to be afforded this platform to share ideas, learn and even teach the young Women in the Namibian media space. Having attended the conference two years prior, I see how strong the conference has grown and how meaningful it is to those in the media space. I am confident the conference will only grow bigger and better from here. Already looking forward to the next one. I extend a big congratulations to Limba Mupetami Jemima Beukes and the lovely Selma Kaulinge for a wonderful event. See you next year ladies.
