Long term thinking is a competitive advantage. I had lunch with a friend yesterday, he is 75. Built a really big regional insurance business. His secret? Long term thinking. Other brokerages wouldn't take on young clients. Premiums weren't big enough. He had a different view. "I was thinking about 40 years, not 4. All of those people that I took on as clients when they were 28 grew up. They owned businesses. They became executives. They remembered that we had taken great care of them when they didn't have anything. So, of course they trusted us to take care of them now that they had quite a lot." I heard some absolute GOLD yesterday at the IIAG Young Agent Conference: These young agents had some real wisdom… 📕Read Principles by Ray Dalio 📕Read 12 week year by Brian Moran 🦢Call on the Goose not the Egg - Agents should prospect referral sources such as financial planners (Private Client) , realtors, loan officers, exotic car dealerships, or others that can feed your desired client. ⁉️Ask yourself: what would it look like if I earned x amount of money. Reflect on it. What tactics will get you there? 📝Clients still like hand written notes. This makes you stand out in a crowd of other agents. 💥Best line: “I want to talk to you about your insurance, but I don’t want to quote it.” Do a real consultative review and they will likely ask you for a quote.
