Every five years, we conduct an analysis of the impact of community health centers in LA County. We’re proud to share our latest report, “Community Health Centers in Los Angeles County: Expanding Access to Care for All,” which focuses on the impact Medi-Cal and health center expansions have had on access to health care and health care coverage in LA County in the decade following the signing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). This report is the first in a three-part series examining how community health centers have served under-resourced communities, including uninsured and under-insured populations, following the passage of the #ACA. "One of the things I love about community health centers is that they're able to pull together that vision of team-based care: That everybody is working for the good of the patient because they are a mission-driven organization." In this video, Lora Council highlights what can help health centers thrive with a team-based care model. (Hint: It's all about the seamless data flow.) https://lnkd.in/gEi_DUdi #valuebasedcare #teambasedcare #healthcareinnovation

CHWs are vital for universal health coverage (UHC)! Undeniable evidence shows that CHWs deliver primary health care in a way that improves access, increases equity, and saves lives. That’s why at #UNGA78 we’re advocating for professional CHWs (#proCHWs) who are salaried, skilled, supervised, and supplied to be the norm worldwide. Join us as we work towards #healthforall. #HealthInequities have a significant impact on communities, affecting their quality of life and financial well-being. In 2018, the economic burden of #HealthDisparities increased from $320 billion to $451 billion. This cost encompassed expenses linked to premature deaths, lost labor productivity market, and excess medical care. To help support underserved and underrepresented communities, some states have taken steps towards achieving optimal health by promoting staff #HealthEquity trainings, proposing health equity commissions, and encouraging community members to engage in the policy process. Read more about these efforts in this week's #HealthPolicyUpdate: https://bit.ly/49VXWRH MPHI CDC Foundation
