While cherished by the Irish diaspora, it's embraced worldwide as a day of Irish pride and camaraderie. Whether Irish or not, everyone’s welcome to join the festivities, but it's crucial to celebrate respectfully. If your office plans a party, consider incorporating traditional Irish food or getting creative with themed treats. Keep decorations culturally focused, emphasizing leprechauns and clovers. Setting guidelines for attire ensures a respectful atmosphere. Avoid inappropriate costumes and educate on sensitivity around pinching, which can be misconstrued as harassment. If concerns arise about cultural appropriation, remind that St. Patrick’s Day evolved from celebrating Irish heritage amid discrimination. Alcohol poses challenges, so consider limiting drinks or opting for alcohol-free options. Encourage responsible behavior and offer safe rides home. Incentives like late arrival or free lunch can deter post-celebration absences. Ultimately, fostering a festive, inclusive environment boosts morale and engagement. Causes you to wonder what we might be determined do today, in protest to lower taxes. Creative bookkeeping seems punished more, the larger this government gets. How about end the over-regulation of our non-criminal / ordinary financials ? How about a standard tax percentage ? How about allowing the taxpayers (deductions) to select whom (disabled peoples) they donate towards; instead of politicians to elite groups ? How about this government handing back over healthcare to the charity realm ? Especially the mental health care asylums for the homeless. Red Cross, etc. Smaller government control = higher personal results.

Brought up in a religion that doesn’t celebrate Christmas, festive traditions weren't part of my childhood. ☃️ We didn’t embrace the sparkly Christmas wonderland in the way most families did. . What you’ve never had, you don’t miss. And yet, I vividly remember my Primary 4 teacher – Miss Tait – asking us to write a Santa poem. In naive honesty, I expressed my disbelief, only to be ridiculed by my classmates, led by the teacher! 🎅 . And I dreaded the post-holiday “What did you get?” conversations. 🎁 . As an adult, while no longer constrained by religion, I still experience the season in a detached manner – observing the abundance, perfectionism and superficiality almost from afar. I’m aware of the financial struggles faced by many families, especially in a cost-of-living crisis. The societal and peer pressure adds stress, as I experienced firsthand as a child. And feelings of loneliness and grief also seem amplified at this time of year. 💔  . Working with organisations committed to social impact is a privilege, and I’m especially enjoying partnering with Whiteinch and Scotstoun Housing Association Limited to articulate their purpose and goals. . This video about their community Christmas event demonstrates the power of community and togetherness, bonding families and offering cheer amidst hardship. It embodies: 👨👩👧👦 Building community 🎆 Bringing joy 🤝 Supporting those in need . I’m grateful to work with change-makers determined to make the world kinder. . As the year comes to a close, I hope for compassion beyond materialism this season. ✨ . Let’s walk into 2024 choosing purpose over pressures. 💫 .
