This week, Hillside had the honor of meeting Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter of GA. Hillside leadership showed Congressman Carter around our midtown campus and shared about our treatment services available across the state of GA. Congressman Carter has been a champion of healthcare and was recently part of a bipartisan legislation effort to reduce and prevent suicide, burnout, and mental and behavioral health conditions among healthcare professionals. The law has already provided $100 million in funding for mental health care for providers across the country, and the act would reauthorize these grant programs for five years. #mentalhealthmatters Emily Acker Evan M. Proactive recognition and treatment of tardive dyskinesia (TD) can make a positive impact in the lives of many people managing their mental illness with antipsychotic medications. That’s why we are committed to working with all segments of the healthcare system – patients, care partners, advocacy organizations, healthcare providers, government and public health officials – to advocate for routine screenings for TD as the standard of care for at-risk patients. A new demonstration model from the United States Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is hoping to improve mental health for adults who deal with substance abuse disorders, accomplished by growing behavioral health provider capacity, one that mixes in physical health care within their practice and their services. Integrating a “no wrong door” approach means it doesn’t matter how patients enter the system, they have access to all health programs. This model will allow CMS to support behavioral health practices integrating care that will help meet physical and behavioral health and assist with health-related social needs. The CMS model is a lot like the mission of TPN Health - Improving patient outcomes and based on the principles of trust and integrity. My perspective, these young people (k-12) can benefit immensely from taking daily class about how to deal with emotions, how to talk to each other, how to treat each other preferably starting in preschool. To avoid suicide among this age. The education system is fails to teach children about the most important things “themselves, “their emotions” how to treat each other, how to talk to each other, and how to care for their immediate environment. And as for health care for these children whom we are taking the responsibility to train so they can live in a conscious civilized world, their health should not be dependent on an institution, instead, they should have a daily class about the natural food their bodies needs, how to prepare it and preserve it. Moreover, their health should not depend on artificial medicine, rather they should be learning how to prepare natural medicine. I think it is time to start teaching real knowledge. The rest it’s pretty much unnecessary. They need to learn about themselves first, before learning about anything else, after all, am sure we all agree that we want a generation of healthy kids that can take care of themselves, and can communicate with empathy, and understand their emotions before training them for industrial labor? I think we need to start thinking outside the box.
To address the youth mental health crisis and meet children where they spend the majority of their waking hours — in schools — UnitedHealthcare is collaborating with Hazel Health to provide 1 million students access to virtual healthcare services in up to fourteen states by 2025. “It’s time that we break the silos that traditionally separate educators, health care providers, health plans and policymakers to pioneer solutions that ease burdens for families and demonstrate real results for our children." - Josh Golomb, CEO of Hazel Health Read more on this innovative partnership from Krista Nelson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare Community & State here: https://lnkd.in/ecWKNUj6

The headline alone ignites a fire in me. Monumental shifts like this are 100% necessary in the healthcare landscape, and the potential permanence of CCBHCs within Medicaid holds the promise of better access to crucial mental health services for millions. At Mend, we've always championed innovation and accessibility in mental healthcare. This development aligns perfectly with our aim to make access to mental and behavioral healthcare accessible for all. It's not just about treating symptoms; it's about fostering holistic wellness and empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives. But let's not just celebrate this as another potential bureaucratic win. Let's recognize it as a testament to the tireless advocacy of mental health professionals, organizations, and advocates who have tirelessly fought for equitable access to quality care. Yet, as we revel in this progress, we have to remain vigilant. Permanence doesn't equate to perfection. We must continue pushing boundaries, challenging norms, and advocating for policies that prioritize mental health as a fundamental aspect of overall well-being. Together, let's pave the way towards a brighter, more inclusive future for mental health care. #MentalHealthMatters #Innovation #HealthcareRevolution #CCBHCs #Medicaid #HealthcarePolicy #MentalWellness #AccessToCare #Advocacy #CommunityHealth #EquityInHealthcare #PolicyChange #HealthcareLeadership Read the full article here: https://hubs.ly/Q02pbQx10
