Legends of Industry: New York Edition (part 2) A trip to New York wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the famous Rockefeller Plaza but who was the man behind this incredible landmark? John D. Rockefeller, the visionary behind Standard Oil, once held dominion over more than 90% of the oil refining industry, effectively monopolizing it. A devout believer, he attributed his survival of a missed train, which tragically resulted in the deaths of all aboard, to divine intervention. This newfound perspective empowered him to secure a contract with the formidable Vanderbilt, despite Rockefeller's refinery's capacity initially falling about 50% short of the daily contract demand. Rockefeller once said give up the good to go for the great. He lived by the principle, first competing Vanderbilts rails versus Thomas Scott rails for better pricing. Ultimately Rockefeller built a pipeline to transport the oil eliminating the rails altogether. When Thomas Scott tried to build a pipeline himself Rockefeller crushed him by closing his refinery plants in Pittsburgh. Are you willing to give up the good and go for the great? Looking forward to another day at AMS, thank you Additive Manufacturing Strategies 3DPrint.com for hosting such a meaningful event. #additivemanufacturing #innovation #economy #motivation

Two things stick out from examining EPRA's Developed Europe Indices in #macrobond. 1) The sheer scale of value destruction since 2019 2) the resilience of industrial (logistics). Capacity accreditation reform is a hot topic these days, with grid operators grappling with how to properly account for the reliability benefits of different resources. My colleague Patrick Huang wrote an excellent insight looking at what reforms are underway and why. Give it a read if you want to understand more about where accreditation is going, expected winners and losers, and commercial implications from the ongoing reforms.
