Neurodiversity is an often misunderstood topic which is close to my heart. I have always been passionate about fostering inclusion, but even more so since the birth of my son, Jasper. As the parent of an autistic child, I’m learning and growing every day. Jasper has helped me see the world through a different lens. Through navigating his daily needs and striving to be a better father, I have also learned to apply this unique lens to my work environment. This has helped me gain a deeper understanding of the differences and strengths of my team and has influenced my leadership style. Approximately 20% of the world’s population identifies as neurodivergent. While we aim to increase acceptence of neurodiversity, we should not shy away from it. What we can do to make a positive difference and act on inclusion: - create a safe space for those who think differently and adapt our work environments so people can feel comfortable sharing their experiences and leveraging their strengths - Make interviewing and onboarding processes more inclusive and easier to navigate - Educate, raise awareness and break misconceptions Creating an inclusive environment is not just an ethical imperative, but a strategic necessity. By fostering understanding, promoting empathy and valuing the individual strengths in our neurodivergent colleagues, we unlock their full potential. This leads to better results, stronger engagement and more innovation. Join me on this journey; let’s continue to raise awareness, share experiences and build a workplace where everyone can thrive. #DEIatHilti #DiversityAndInclusion #Neurodiversity #InclusiveWorkplace The Diversity Agenda
