The European Health Data Space has been adopted!! 🥳 Yes, you have read it right!! It has been 2 years since it was planned, but we can now say that the EHDS (European Health Data Space) regulation has been adopted, entailing this a milestone in the European Union's innovation and digital health advancement. This regulation allows: ⭐️To empower people to have greater control over and digital access to their electronic personal health data, both at the national and EU level, and support its free movement. This will be done thanks to patient sites or apps that will provide patients with their electronic health data records which will follow them to any health provider they attend across Europe. In addition, the regulation will foster the alignment of data structure for exchange within European electronic health records, encompassing both structured and unstructured data formats through standardized exchange formats. These records will comply with interoperability and logging requirements. ⭐️To build a reliable framework for using and enhancing the advancement of health data in research, innovation, and sustainability. To achieve this purpose, a network of health data access bodies in each member state of the EU will be established to guarantee secure access to electronic health data for secondary use purposes. As a result, the advancement of research and innovation will be boosted allowing the development of new treatments and healthcare solutions. Connect by Circular-Lab receives this information with a thrill as we have always been committed to innovation and continuous development within the healthcare sector, and we feel that this regulation is another step along this exciting path. #EHDS #EuropeanHealthDataSpace #Healthcareinnovation #Digitalhealth #Datapower #ElectronicHealthRecord

🔔 Check out this new article on #digitalhealth #transformation! My insights how organizations can use digital transformation to share knowledge with their employees stem from my experience in digital health. 📣 We've been advocating against fragmented, reporting-focused, siloed approaches for years. 📣 Today, there's a shift toward user-and patient-centric digital health solutions, supported by global standards, system architecture, governance, and interoperability. 📣 With the adoption of Open Health Stack components, local developers can skip reinventing the wheel and concentrate on crafting digital tools tailored to local needs. It's the realization of the vision endorsed by 194 countries in the WHO Global Digital Health Strategy. 🌐💡 #FullSTAC #DigitalHealth #GlobalHealth #DigitalDevelopment #OpenHealthStack #SMARTGuidelines #Standards #Technology #Architecture #Content #GSDH #SDGs #UHC #opentech #open Thank you Alain Labrique, Carl Leitner, Garrett Mehl for remembering our collaboration. It was a pleasure to serve as member of the #WHO Global Digital Health Technical Advisory Group for Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Big shout out also to Mark Landry, Fazilah Shaik Allaudin, Donna Medeiros and Alvin Marcelo who played a key role in shaping my understanding of digital health. The rise of internet access has empowered individuals to manage their health more effectively by providing a means to deliver personalized health resources and prevention tools. This underscores the importance of informatics approaches that not only bridge health disparities and healthcare gaps but also boost community participation. Efforts to foster partnerships that utilize data sharing and information technology to engage communities are valuable. Such technologies are crucial for enabling self-directed health management and facilitating communication between researchers and communities, including those less familiar with digital tools. Involving communities in the development and evaluation process of new technologies, rather than simply distributing digital tools, ensures the initiatives are responsive and effectively reduce health disparities. Prioritizing the integration of health information technology with community needs is vital, ensuring technology development is driven by and beneficial to the communities it aims to serve. However, current policies and regulations lag behind technological advancements, prompting concerns over privacy and the validity of data from diverse sources. There's a pressing need for a more integrated and cohesive system to tackle these challenges. The rapid expansion of IT alone does not equate to genuine community engagement. Establishing a communication framework that includes both researchers and community members is crucial for improving health outcomes and effectively addressing global health disparities. #communityhealth #communityengagement #health #sciencecommunication #scientificwriting

Information overload in healthcare: too much of a good thing? The rapidly growing production of #healthcare #information - both scientific and popular - increasingly leads to a situation of #information overload affecting all actors of the healthcare system and threatening to impede the adoption of evidence-based practice. We are suffering of "#filterfailure", since the main problem is not that there is "too much #information", but that the traditional means of managing and evaluating information are ill-suited to the realities of the #digital age. Some of the major instances of #filterfailure are inadequate #information retrieval systems for point-of-care settings, the problem of identifying all relevant evidence in an exceedingly diverse landscape of #information resources, and the very basic lack of #health #information literacy, concerning not only the general public. New or adapted filtering systems include adapting review literature to the specific needs of practitioners or patients, technological improvements to information systems, strengthening the roles of intermediaries, as well as improving #health literacy. https://lnkd.in/drNztDUY #healthcare #information #filterfailure #digital #health
