Recently, I watched a YouTube video on our 'Rivers - Our LifeLine' posted by Abhi and Niyu. I do watch many videos but the video on this topic actually made me post. As we all know, Indian rivers are very important to the country's people and economy ✨. Big rivers like the Ganges, Yamuna, and Brahmaputra provide water for drinking, farming, and industry. However, as cities and factories grow, these rivers are becoming polluted. Waste from factories, farms, and homes is harming the water quality. Protecting and cleaning these rivers is essential for the health and well-being of everyone in India. Our beautiful rivers are filled with plastic, chemicals, and waste because of us. Every piece of trash we throw and every drop of waste we let flow harms our rivers more. Everyone should contribute for making our rivers clean. 1. Avoid Plastic 2. Proper Disposal 3. Use Eco Friendly products " A Small Contribution from everyone can make a Big Difference!! ". https://lnkd.in/gEBd-zEQ #StopPollution #GreenIndia #CleanIndia #ProtectRivers

Actual cause of Delhi's Air Pollution has always been the Crop burning ( Rice Pareli) in Punjab and some parts of Haryana. Environmentalist's Solution: Ban Crackers in Diwali Real Solution: Convert pareli into Bio- waste and produce Ethanol/ Bio CNG. 5 Ton of Pareli can help us get 1 ton of Ethanol. ( Farmers don't get this option/dont know about this therefore they have to burn the crops for new season) In India, Actual Solution to problem is overrated. Definately someday anyone will solve this problem. #delhi

As Delhi once again deals with intolerable levels of toxic smog, our op-ed from 2021 remains as relevant as ever. Crop diversification in the western Indo-Gangetic plain would decrease the amount of rice residue burning, which contributes significantly to air pollution in North India. Our rivers, which we call "Maa," are choking under the burden of pollution. Out of the 1000 most polluted rivers globally, 144 are in India, with 13 in Mumbai alone. The Yamuna, the most polluted river in India, sustains agriculture around it, posing severe health risks. Bengaluru, once celebrated as the "City of Lakes," now struggles with water scarcity. The sacred Ganga which we worship, is sadly a receiver of our sewage. We must act now to save our rivers. They are not just water bodies; they are lifelines that nourish our land and sustain our people. Many individuals, institutions, and NGOs are taking action from their side to clean these rivers and lakes but we need a technology-oriented solution. We can stop garbage from going from rivers to oceans by using a boat called Interceptor, a boat that takes dirty water, filters plastics and garbage, and returns clean water. It is the concept of Ocean Cleanup, the world’s biggest water cleanup project. For this, we need the support of the Government of India. Watch the full solution-oriented video where Abhi and Niyu are appealing to the Government of India to take action towards cleaning the river of India. Today’s India not only needs development but we need sustainable development. #rivers #cleanup #technology #sustainability

The onset of winter is also accompanied by the stubble burning season in northern India, especially in regions like Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana. A harmful agricultural practice to get rid of the leftover crop residue (stubble), it contributes significantly to air pollution. Recently, Punjab recorded a sharp increase in stubble burning incidents, with 587 cases reported in a single day (Source: The Economic Times). However, innovative solutions are helping India tackle this challenge and pave the way to a healthier environment. 🌱 Swipe to know more! #ShivNadarFoundation #SNF #StubbleBurning #AirPollution #WinterSmog #SustainableFarming #CleanerAir #InnovationForChange #EcoFriendlyFarming #HealthierIndia

Today is an important day that many of us don’t even recognize. Can you guess what it is? It’s about something India struggles with every day. It’s about the basic right of every living being. Still no idea? It’s about the problem our national capital is choking on. Yes, today, 2nd December, is "National Pollution Control Day." But where is the 'control'? Why does government not do anything? it's because of one equation that is demand = supply. For instance, Why does the government focus on religion in their voting propaganda? because that’s what gets people’s attention. Because that’s what Indians care about. But it’s time we start taking pollution seriously and demand fresh air. Here’s the reality check again: The current AQI in Delhi (and many other cities)is between 250-300. For context, an AQI of 0–50 means good air quality. This is serious. Let’s make it a priority. Let’s demand clean air. Let’s make it the most important issue when we vote. Let’s start a campaign: "Swachh Banegi Hawa, Toh Swasth Banega Bharat." #NationalPollutionControlDay #Pollution #Delhi #AQI

The negative impact of simple solution in a complex world - An Indian initiative to preserve vanishing groundwater by delaying the annual sowing of rice has led to a dramatic worsening of air pollution in New Delhi and the surrounding region, already infamous for its suffocating smog, according to farmers and researchers. And no one saw it coming. For decades, farmers have burned the field stubble that remains after harvesting rice to prepare for the next crop. But when government officials ordered a delay in the summer sowing of rice by a few weeks in part of India to take advantage of the coming monsoon rain, they did not consider that winds would have shifted by harvest time. Now, the harvest coincides with winter weather, and the winds blow the smoke across the plains of northern India. #agriculture #rice #india #climatechange #water #soilhealth https://lnkd.in/eHhuPhuz

Delhi Chokes: AQI Plummets to 'Very Poor' as Stubble Burning Intensifies The national capital is gasping for breath as Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) plummets to a concerning 357 in key areas like Anand Vihar and Akshardham Temple. Behind these alarming numbers lies a familiar culprit - the surge in stubble-burning incidents across Punjab. Our latest data shows significant burning incidents across Punjab's agricultural belt: Amritsar leading with 245 cases, followed by Sangrur (213), Ludhiana (198), Patiala (167), and Bathinda (156). The direct correlation between these incidents and Delhi's deteriorating air quality cannot be ignored, especially with Diwali approaching. In response, the Delhi government has activated Stage II of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). This systematic approach categorizes air quality concerns into progressive stages: Stage I (AQI 201-300) for 'poor', Stage II (AQI 301-400) for 'very poor', Stage III (AQI 401-450) for 'severe', and Stage IV (AQI >450) for 'severe plus' conditions. 🔍 As we monitor this developing situation, it's crucial to understand that air pollution isn't just an environmental issue – it's a public health emergency affecting millions of citizens in the Delhi-NCR region.
