Hindustan Zinc Limited – a Vedanta group company in zinc-lead-silver business has now become the 3rd largest* silver producer globally as per the World Silver Survey 2024 conducted by ‘The Silver Institute’, USA. The company’s Sindesar Khurd Mine now stands as the world’s 2nd largest silver-producing mine moving up from last year’s 4th position. The Authority for Advance Rulings (AAR), Odisha in the case of M/S. UTKAL COAL MINING INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED (UCMIPL) vide Order No. 07/ODISHA-AAR/2023-24 dated 17.05.2024, has ruled that the services provided for the transportation of coal from stockyards to railway sidings or delivery points are classified under SAC 9966, i.e., “Renting of Transport Vehicles with operator.” These services are not categorized under “Transport of goods by road” (SAC 9965). Circular 177/09/2022-TRU, is applicable to the applicant. It clarifies that such services are considered as renting of transport vehicles with an operator and not as mere transportation of goods by road. #Gst

Vedanta approves capex investment of $270 million for Rajasthan block ********************* Mining major Vedanta Ltd said that board has approved capex investment of $270 million for the Rajasthan block. The projects timeline is 12-30 months and will be funded through internal accruals, the company said in an exchange filing on August 6. The investment is aimed at increasing near-term volume through infill wells and enhanced oil recovery techniques, the company said. "Infill wells" is a term commonly used in the oil and gas industry to describe wells drilled between existing wells to extract more resources from a field. The planned capex will be used for drilling wells and construction of surface facility for ASP injection, Vedanta said.
