This year, Hindustan Zinc has achieved record silver production of 746 MT, and we hope we can continue this trajectory of growth. Our Fumer plant in Chanderiya – which is India’s first – is helping us convert jarosite to clean slag, enabling waste recycling and additional production of silver – paving the way for #aatmanirbharbharat. We hope to become net exporters of minerals and metals - giving an impetus to economic development in the country. According to the State Bank of India's latest data released on March 14, the Vedanta Group has purchased electoral bonds worth Rs. 400.65 crore for the years 2019-2024 in order to donate to political parties. The mining company has been frequently criticized for its environmental violations across multiple mining, oil, and gas projects in India. Interestingly, during the said tenure, Vedanta owner Anil Agarwal’s founded Sterlite Technologies witnessed mass layoffs and salary cuts of up to 25% for its workforce, and the roles to be affected by the decision include mid to senior-level employees. Last year, Vedanta Group's manufacturing company laid off over 100 employees from non-core functions to reduce operational costs. The subsidiary company also witnessed salary cuts including big roles like Vice Chairman Pravin Agarwal and Managing Director Ankit Agarwal as well. #startuppedia

Vedanta Group was successfully running Sterlite Copper at Thoothukudi,Tamilnadu. Sterlite produced Copper around 400,000 metric Tonnes Per Annum. After getting Environmental clearances only, Sterlite Copper was operated and also providing Employment to ample number of locals. Now, the Sterlite Copper has been closed since urban Naxals conducted various gatherings (which is supposed to be called as organized crime) to rationalize against the company. Now, 1) all the Employees of Sterlite Copper are jobless and who will feed their families? 2) now Bharath is forced to import Copper which is victory for the anti-nationals. A Business person manages how to run his business for which he may have to pay political parties. One may say that it is a organized crime. Such practices exist in all countries. In Bharath it is called "Electoral bond" which is more transparent way of collecting funds (to run the political parties) from a company. During Congress regimes, many times the government called for surrendering of black money from business people of all sectors. The government ensured business people that there would be no scrutiny whatsoever be the amount of surrender of black money. Electoral bond is more civilized form of surrender of black money.

Metals & Mining Sector : Create a culture of Safety, more than Policies.. I often say, "Your Safety is Your Responsibility, Not Mine", and this is true as well. The loss of life or encountering an accident at the work-place is purely personal, though the company does take the responsibility of providing a safe and secured workplace. The damage is yours and loss is also yours. Companies have a policy and are free to hire a new candidate to replace you instantly. Being in the metals & mining and Oil & Gas organization for almost 12 years and a strategic communication consultant to number of international organizations, I started a campaign - 'BE SAFE". As part of this campaign, I travelled hundreds of miles to mining and smelting locations to meet thousands of mine-workers and other employees to motivate them to adopt a culture of "self-care" and taking ownership and responsibility of being safe. Also encouraged them to report unsafe places and highlight areas that needed management attention. I met almost 10,000 + mine workers, their families, children in schools, and a number of government officials to endorse the thoughts.
